Lovely cinema that really values independent films. The only thing is that the location is a bit hidden, but I absolutely loved the space.

My first time being here and it's my perfect kind of cinema. Classy and it's possible to have drinks in the bar and also bring them into the cinema with you. Very reasonable as well. Will definitely make it a regular place to go.

There was a group of us all arriving at 11am or before & it wasn't open. Booked tickets beforehand & no mention of fire training & that the lighthouse wouldn't be open. Film started at 12pm.
My advice, check a day or two before, if going early.
Soup, sambo very fresh made on the day.
Clean bathrooms & lovely venue overall

For me, it’s by far the nicest cinema in Dublin. The architecture is really unique — spacious, with wooden interiors and different food options available, spread across different floors, which helps avoid long queues. The auditoriums are large, the sound quality is excellent, and the seats are super comfortable! There’s a good chance you might even fall asleep if the movie isn’t that interesting! They always have great films showing, and since the seats aren’t numbered, you can choose where you want to sit!

The best cinema in Dublin by a distance.
The only place likely to show somethimg small/international, not just once, but multiple times.
Never any issues you get at the chain cinemas (respectful audiences, great sound/picture quality), staff actually check things out to ensure there are no issues and they have a projector! Lovely.
In saying that though, the programming has dipped a little in the last 12-24 months (weak summer season this year compared to the previous ones), not as many anniversaries and celebrations of directors/actors, etc.
There also seems to have been a bit of.a pivot toward blockbuster fare more than I've ever noticed before in my decade or so of going. The summer just gone was particularly rough with F4 and Superman among other stuff (plus Taylor Swift!).
Love the staff picks idea, I hope that stays.
Btw, if you're going to crib from the PCC (and why not?!) then try showing a similar programme as well as the gimmicky Murder, She Wrote and Ali Plumb Quiz stuff. Maybe you can add a request board too! Oh and all night marathons!
I love being a member and supporting the cinema but it's not an easy sell to mates compared to my Cineworld membership. I'd happily pay more to get more. Especially for an unlimited option.
Speaking of Cineworld, while the experience/cleanliness/atmosphere/audiences can be hit and miss compared to the Light House, their programme has changed massively in recent years, with a heavy focus on rep showing. In the last year or so, they've had a Fincher season, Wes Anderson season, Nolan season, 90s action season, best sequels season etc among others and next month are showing full series of franchises inc Mission Impossible, Pirates of the Caribbean and Twilight. All tix €6. They're often more or less full.
I'd love the Light House to do similar but with more 'Light House style' movies.
Lastly, bring back Hanksgiving!!!

Light House Cinema is a gem. From the moment you walk in, you feel a sense of care and purpose behind the space. It isn’t flashy, but it is beautifully designed — simple, modern, with touches that show they’ve thought about your comfort and viewing experience.
What I love most is their support for local, independent, and varied film productions. This isn’t a place just for the big blockbusters — it gives voice to films you might not see elsewhere, which makes it feel culturally important.
The atmosphere is quieter, more reserved — not the kind of cinema where you feel crowded or overwhelmed. It feels like a place you can go to immerse yourself, take your time, and enjoy something different.
If you’re in Dublin and want to catch a film in a more thoughtful, less commercial setting, Light House Cinema is absolutely worth visiting.
