Lily House Thai & Chinese Cuisine in Kenmare

Outstanding pad thai. Great tamarind flavor!

Lily House is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal in Kenmare. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the friendly service made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The menu offers a tempting selection of Thai and Chinese dishes, so there’s plenty to choose from. We really enjoyed the Singapore noodles, which were full of flavour and had just the right amount of spice. The Amber Fire Steak was another highlight: tender, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Both dishes were satisfying and made us want to come back to try more of the menu.

I ordered three dishes for takeout: Tom Yum, Hot & Sour Soup, and Spring Rolls. The portion sizes were generous, the staff was very friendly, and the restaurant itself looks quite inviting. However, the food was somewhat mediocre for my taste. Hot & Sour Soup: Lacked acidity. I’m used to a richer sweet-and-sour contrast with more depth and umami. Tom Yum: Decent, but lacked overall depth and seasoning. While lemongrass and galangal were clearly present, they felt as though they hadn’t simmered long enough to properly infuse the broth. Additionally, the prawns were overcooked, giving them a rubbery texture. Spice level: Quite underwhelming. Both dishes were marked with a 3-chili rating, but what was billed as a 3 would barely count as a 1 at my local takeout spot back home (run by my "Vietnamese mama" - not my actual mom, but she cooks with authentic, motherly love and punchy heat). Perhaps dining in offers a better experience, but based on this takeout order, it was just average.

Wow so so worth it! We didn’t book a table and although the place was super busy, they managed to squeeze us in on a table outside. The staff were ever so friendly and the food was superb! Portions were a great size and couldn’t recommend this place more :) great veggie options for us as well! Now we’ve lined the stomachs, we’re ready for everything kenmare has to offer! Excellent meal. Lots of options for vegan food as well. We were very impressed with the quality and freshness of each dish.

We wanted to come back two days later to eat there again, the food was that good. We especially loved the Chicken Chow Mein.

This was an outstanding meal. It ranks among the very best Chinese cuisine I have experienced. The food quality is exceptional. ​In particular, the chef’s special prawn and pineapple dish was absolutely superb—perfectly balanced and incredibly flavorful. Highly recommended.

Walked into this restaurant without a reservation and we were seated promptly! The service was great and our server, Angie, was super sweet. For our meal, we ordered the spring rolls and the Pad Thai. The spring rolls were absolutely delicious! However, the Pad Thai was a bit too sweet for our taste, and we’ve definitely had better elsewhere. That being said, the excellent service made it a wonderful experience overall!
