MacCurtain Wine Cellar in Cork

We loved this little natural wine haven in Cork! It was everything we look for in a bar. Cosy, cute, grown up and friendly. I just wish we had more time to stay and we missed to go back the day after too 😢 Very tasty tapas style plates (we wish we could have eaten more) all to enjoy with a great selection of very well priced wines! First on the list of places to go if we get to come back!

Great wines, a rotating selection but if you're here to try the 3 Austrian offerings (grüner veltliner, orange Mulatschak, and Zweigelt red), I would recommend it. They also have lovely snacks - a perfect girl dinner. Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, highly recommended!

MacCurtain Wine bar is a must visit when in Cork! They have the most fabulous selection of wines which Trudy and Grace are happy to recommend and advise on. These ladies are incredibly knowledgable and so much fun to chat to! I was here with my sisters a few weeks ago and we had the most fabulous time! Could not recommend more.

After an average dinner at a highly reviewed restaurant on MacCurtain street, Cork City, Mary and I were looking for something more sophisticated in the city of my ancestors. We stumbled upon MacCurtains on a rainy night and immediately knew we were in a special place. There, a wall of wines from all over the world that we could buy and bring home or better yet, enjoy among an attractive, sophisticated group of Cork folks! We chose a moderately priced wine from Calse (southwest France} that was absolutely superb (I am a winemaker) along with a terrific cheese plate. Long story short, a wonderful experience.

Was just meandering through the streets of Cork in the rain and came across this amazing Wine Bar that seemed to be buzzing inside! The staff were fantastic and allowed us to sit at the bar even though they were incredibly busy. We weren’t sure what we wanted and the team took their time to go through what we liked and what their best options might be. We settled on a bottle of Pouilly-Fume and it was delightful. It was at this point we decided to try a few of the nibbles and got a couple of cheese plates and possibly some olives. Again, fantastic and really complemented the wine. As we’d done the first bottle so quick we went in for a second and again the staff came through with a great selection. Had we not been flying Ryanair with their expensive baggage I’d have stocked up on quite a few extra bottles. If you’re in this area I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Good for just a quiet drink alone with a newspaper, a bottle on a date or even a few bottles with a few friends after being on the beers for most of the afternoon.
