A wine bar here on McCurtain Street with a wine selection that would make many establishments on McCurtain envious. They serve snacks in the evening; you won't want to drink without eating. It's very well managed by two ladies with exemplary and very friendly service. I highly recommend this place for a change of pace, so you don't always go to the same places. Why not give it a try?

We purposely extended our stay in cork to go to MacCurtain’s Wine Cellar, and it was absolutely the best decision we made, the staff were so so friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about every piece of their craft including the Tapenade! Which we had loads of! They allowed us to try half glasses of each wine to allow us to find which wine was our favourite but we ended up going through the menu as each and every wine was delicious and provided its own story as told to us by the staff. We would absolutely come again and enjoy an evening at MacCurtain’s and both of us would 100% say it’s a must do when visiting Cork City!

This is the place I wish I lived next door to. The best of the best. Incredible food, incredible wine and the best service you could ask for. Grace and Craig, if you’re ever in Cambridge, let us know. Katie and Tim 🩷

The Woodford

05/01/2026: We had an amazing lunch today. Food was one of the best we have experienced for long time in Cork. He had chicken burger, he was very impressed and as a chef he said without a doubt 9 out of 10 !!! I had goat cheese salad and gosh it kept me full for the rest of the day, ingredients were fresh, high quality, 9 out of 10!!! Desserts OMG, the crème brülèe and cheesecake, so delicious 😋 And extra points for presentation, touch of art!!! Staff were friendly and welcoming and place looks really outstanding, pure Irish pub vibe ❤️ We sure return 🤟
05/12/2025: Really nice place. You get a seat right away. Service is good and fast. They also bring your food out fast. But there are 2 things holding them back from a better rating from me. The first is the notes for customers. At first is seems nice. It's like a "be nice or we won't serve you" which I can respect. I've run my own business and I know how abusive customers can be, and I can't even imagine how that would be in a bar. But the number of notes, absolutely everywhere. On several walls. Over the bar. Little ones tucked into the menu. I can't look anywhere in there without seeing them. After the first one or two, it changed from being nice to kind of harassing. I'm just trying to enjoy my meal. Why am I getting all these signs in my face everywhere? And still I could have gotten over it but for the food experience I had. Fish and chips. I ordered fish and chips. Maybe it's a cliche, but I grew up in a fishing town and I really love me some fish and chips. ive had a few hit and miss fish and chips around town. But this truly was the worst plate of fish and chips I have had in my life. The grease was disgusting. Pressing a finger on the batter made grease flow out in a waterfall. And the chips were worse. They were pale and undercooked. I don't think I've ever experienced that. The chips I couldn't eat at all. But I managed to eat the fish. I was not in a state for fighting with the kitchen to get a better meal because I was having some low blood sugar and came in with a serious need for some food immediately. I don't like to send food back, but if my brain hadn't been numb from a low blood sugar, I would have done it, and it would have been a first for me at anything other than a fast food place. I've eaten food here before and it was great. I don't know what happened this day or if their fish and chips is always like this. But I'm not spending that many euros to give them a second chance. That's for sure.
