A Birthday to Remember at MacNean’s – Pure Magic My sister and I recently celebrated our birthday at MacNean Restaurant in Blacklion, and we can genuinely say it was one of the most special dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The whole atmosphere exudes quiet elegance — relaxed, warm, and full of charm. Every detail, from the décor to the perfectly timed service, reflects a place that knows exactly what it’s doing. The staff were exceptional — professional yet friendly, and it’s clear they genuinely enjoy being part of something special. And of course, the highlight was meeting Neven himself, who took the time to personally stop by every table. That thoughtful touch meant so much and made the evening feel even more intimate and memorable. Now, the food — simply out of this world. Each dish was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and perfectly portioned so you never felt overwhelmed, just continuously delighted. It was a journey of wonderful course after course, every one a highlight in its own right. MacNean’s is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special place to celebrate, or just to indulge in the very best of Irish hospitality and cuisine.

We noticed that there seemed to be a lack of staff engagement as if there was something bothering the staff members. The lead server's attitude was unfriendly and of limited engagement. Food was good but only good and not fantastic as experienced on a previous visit. Not sure the entire visit merited the price tbh which was a pity as we would have been big fans

We stayed at McNean House on Wed last and all we can say is WOW! A really great experience from start to finish. Great location with plenty to see in the locality, great accommodation and, of course, a top class culinary experience for both dinner and breakfast. All carefully managed by Nevin and his excellently trained team, no detail is left to chance. Not to be missed!

Just back from MacNean house. Amazing experience. The attention to detail was staggering. Although expensive if staying , it was still very reasonable and pricing for drinks, wine etc all well within expected ranges. If there is some foods you don’t like they will do their best to accommodate. We were also lucky enough to meet Nevin on the night. He talked to everyone, every table more than once and was happy to have a photo taken. He’s not there all the time , very busy schedule, so you might be lucky. We booked 14months in advance but there are last minute cancellation deals on their website. Nevin is a lovely man, and overall this was an amazing experience. Be prepared to eat a lot of very very good food.

I'm finding it hard to describe just how incredible our experience at MacNean House was. The impeccable standard of both the food and service exceeded all expectations. It was absolutely worth the wait, and we'll definitely be rebooking before we leave. Nevin's personal touch, with his engaging conversations, was truly the highlight of our visit.

Brought my mother for her 70th I can safely say she loved it.Food ,service and hospitality were out of this world.Thank to all that made her night.

The food was perfect. The wine was amazing. The guest house was fantastic. Yet that wouldn't have created such a uniquely wonderful experience without the knowledgeable, friendly staff who had a genuine warmth, kindness and care for what they were doing and who they were serving. Whoever does the hiring and training deserves a gold medal. Every single person that worked there was exemplary, and could teach all of us how to be. I can imagine guests ranged from those that go as regularly as is possible, restricted by waiting list, and those that go as a once in a lifetime experience. Everyone gets the same unbelievable attention. Huge thanks to all at MacNean House. I'll never forget the experience. PS - Make sure to book the stay over. Waking up to have that breakfast was a perfect way to end the trip.

The welcome and the team were amazing! I have dietary issues (gluten free and vegetarian) (advsied at the ime of booking) and the menu was the first time, in a long time, that I could eat everything with confidents, becauses the team knew the menus, the ingredients and the allergerns, and its tasted amazing. (there was not a a curry, dalh, a stir fry, a macroon or a brownies offered) the menus that was presented to each guest was seasonal, local, with sauces and flavours to enhance the palated. The attention to detail was descreet and just mad me smile. a joy to exxperience. I really enjoyed the outdoor terrance, with extra touches so you could sit out in the Autumn air and still be cosy. Loved it, we'll be back! We were a party of 6, and booked two years on advanc for the Saturday reservation, well worth the wait!
