Mary's Cottage Kitchen in Ballycastle

Wonderful little place in Ballycastle. The vegan rolls and egg muffins were tasty. The fruit scone was lovely as was the Chocolate ganache tart( enhanced with the addition of their homemade jam! ) Fantastic hosts, both Mary and Geraldine.

A wide range of lovely baked goods. We bought potato cakes, egg muffins, scones, brown bread, jam and chutney. All were delicious. Mary and her daughter were friendly and helpful. Not to be missed if you're in the Ballycastle area.

A chance discovery, and what a surprise! We stepped into this little cottage and Mary's world opened up to us! Succulent carrot cake, magnificent cheese and raisin scones, and all the cakes—like the chocolate cake, cheesecake, cookies, and shortbread—were divine. Just like her jams. My only regret is not having tried the lemon meringue pie, and not being able to go back from time to time!

During our stay at Ceide Glamping, the manager recommended that we visit Mary’s Bakery for breakfast, as it wasn't included in our reservation, assuring us we would find great options there. That’s how we met Mary. She is a charming, ageless lady with kind eyes, a warm smile, and a gentle voice full of cheerfulness and amiability. Her products—fresh, flavorful, and made with a lot of love—far exceeded our expectations. The quality was exquisite. We ate from Mary's bakery for two days, and before leaving Ballycastle, we stopped by to take a photo with her, to bring her memory back home, and to share her story. She is a delightful, friendly lady who brings immense joy to everyone who steps through her door. Thank you, Mary, for your wonderful treats and for your kindness. You must not miss this little bakery when you pass through Ballycastle.

I had a vegan roll here and it was delicious. The stuff is incredibly nice and welcoming. We should support family businesses like this one. The fact that they have vegan options made me feel acknowledged as a vegan looking for some tasty pastry ;)

If you are in the area, be sure to stop by Mary's Bakery! In her small bakery, you'll find freshly baked treats and the coffee is ready. Have a scone; Mary will put a spoonful of jam on it for you if you like. But we especially enjoyed the chocolate truffle slice! You definitely shouldn't miss this place!

Mary’s Bakery is simply the best! The home baked goods are some of the tastiest I have ever had & we tried almost everything (scones, carrot cakes, sausage rolls, potato cakes, etc.). Mary herself is an absolute gem, warm, welcoming & passionate about what she does. You can tell that everything is baked with care and love. Highly recommended! Thank you Mary x
