Max's in Kinsale

We just had the most delicious gourmet experience. Every dish was superb, and the flow and pacing was perfection. The wine list paired beautifully with the dishes. The chef makes it easy by limiting your choices. Everything was as fresh can be. Honestly, I’m pretty sure there were no bad options. The scallops, soba noodles with duck, boulabaise and lamb cutlets were all truly exceptional. Highly recommend! But the place needs a visual makeover. The atmosphere is definitely on the plate.

This restaurant came recommended by family who had eaten at Max’s 24 years ago and highly recommended by our hotel. The restaurant exceeded our expectations. The welcome was warm and genuine, the service was exceptional and the food was perfect. If you are in Kinsale, do not miss this exceptional family run experience.

This was our first visit to Max’s but it won’t be our last. We went to Max’s for a birthday dinner and it was genuinely one of our best restaurant experiences in recent memory. The service was brilliant. From calmly and discreetly, asking a very loud group of customers to tone it down to helping us pick between equally delicious-sounding dishes. And just generally being very attentive while not overbearing throughout the whole meal. The food, of course, was delicious. Fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation and amazing flavours. You could feel the care they put into creating their dishes and preparing the food. Oh, and no matter how full you think you are, don’t skip dessert!

Came here earlier in the week for my dad’s 60th birthday. Food was outstanding and the service from the staff was excellent. Would recommend to anyone visiting Kinsale to have a meal here!
