The best restaurants in Kinsale

27/10/2024: Only word for this place is exceptional. The setting, food, staff. And…. the value for money 👌🏻👌🏻 It’s unusual to come away from a restaurant in Ireland these days genuinely feeling you had a great experience, without having to spend a fortune. But the Black Pig has nailed this. Can’t wait till I’m in Kinsale again. Thanks for taking care of us!

20/10/2024: Dropped in late (9.30pm) for a few glasses of wine and a plate of oysters. A great selection of wines and we weren't disappointed by our choices. Had a dozen oysters that were fresh and delicious.

25/10/2024: If I could give 100 stars I would. The best breakfast we had on our two week holiday across Ireland and England. Also the best breakfast sandwich I've had in general. The vanilla and cardamom latte was heavenly. The staff were the kindest people. If I lived in Kinsale I would be there at least once a week.

17/11/2024: 100+ reviews and 5 stars, sure they must be up to something good. You'll get an eclectic collection of drinks here you wouldn't find in the wild or the metropolises of the world and all that's in it, the 'standard coffee menu' fits on one line, the menu runs to many many pages. Come here for a coffee and a hot chocolate, leave with a mulled cider and kids version bean & goose luxe hot (appropriately warm) hot chocolate.

13/11/2024: Had dinner here recently and while I did really enjoy the food I wouldn’t say it was anything to write home about! I had the monkfish special and it was very good although very rich. We also had the hake which was nice. Cocktails were just fine but then I did overhear that the cocktail barman was off that night so perhaps we were unlucky. The service was as we have grown to expect in Ireland lately, fine. After spending €150 I’m not sure I could say it was worth it.

28/10/2024: We have always loved this restaurant in the heart of Kinsale but didn’t know one very important detail. It is very unusual for a chef and kitchen to make every single item on the menu from scratch. This happens in this restaurant. Tom & Grannia are running a very friendly restaurant with superb food and a great cocktail bar. Our favourites are the fish “specials” but my partner always returns to the slow cooked short rib of beef and the fabulous chicken wings. Every man’s idea of heaven!! All the dishes are great and we all Love the crème caramel brûlée and the flourless chocolate cake. Decor is cosy but modern and staff so friendly and helpful. A must when in Kinsale (and no freezer friendly quick dishes here).

12/11/2024: Special place for a special occasion.. Really great place here , top class in every way , great food , great service and fantastic location ( ask for a table in the courtyard) .. a little bit more expensive than most but well worth it .. Cheers 🥂

03/11/2024: Went here to celebrate engagement with our extended family. Food was really nice but the service was very poor. Attitude of the waitress was very bad and felt we were inconveniencing her throughout the whole evening. Had to go to the main bar to ask for drinks because no one was coming to our table. Starters came out for half of our party and by the time we had finished it, the remaining starters came . Ordered sticky toffee pudding and mine was cold while others were warm. Ordered soup and garlic bread for a child and only the garlic bread came.

11/09/2024: The hotel staff goes above and beyond, for real. They were incredibly helpful. We were amazed by their hospitality. Wow! The room was huge, well equipped and the premises are beautiful.

10/11/2024: I might be biased, but I loved this place. Despite being very busy for lunch, the service was friendly and fast. We shared the crab salad and seafood chowder. Both were great as was the Bulman lager! Well worth the short trek from Kinsale.

10/11/2024: We had an excellent experience at The Spaniards Inn! Arriving around 5 pm, we found the place quiet, which made for a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The waitress was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of with quick and efficient service. The food was delicious, with everything served fresh and exactly as we’d hoped. Perfect spot for a peaceful early evening meal—highly recommended!

26/10/2024: Small menu but great food. Recommend the Guinness stew. Live music every night after 0830. Gorgeous pint of Guinness and delish Irish coffee to finish. Main meals around €20. Great atmosphere

23/09/2024: Lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff. We did the tasting menu and wine pairing and cannot say enough good things about this establishment. Thank you so much for having us!

21/09/2024: Bastion is well worth your time; even if it’s only for a drink and a snack at the bar. We stopped in without a reservation and were able to spend some time at the bar. It was a welcome change from a noisy pub and the bar snacks were next level. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and extremely accommodating. You could tell they take great care in making guests feel welcome; even folks like us who popped in off the street after seeing the Michelin sign on the door. I can’t speak to the dinner menu, but from what we saw being served it looked beautiful and unique. The snacks at the bar were very good; go for the Iberian ham and olives, I’d also consider grabbing the cheese and crackers as well. We were in Kinsale on a whim and didn’t have time to make reservations, but if we are ever back in the area we’d absolutely be making dinner reservations.

04/11/2024: Lovely atmosphere, thought the menu seemed a bit simple til the food came. Ordinary menu and extraordinarily yummy dishes at very reasonable prices. Our new favourite kinsale eatery, well be back 😀
