04/05/2026: What an amazing afternoon my husband and I had today everything was amazing but very disappointed that we were charged for mayo it might sound picky but who has a smoked salmon salad without mayo thank you any how for everything but I thought I would point it to you we will still be returning 😊

21/04/2026: Max's finally reopened for the season, yay! Decided to try it for the first time. Initial impression when you walk in is beautiful, great atmosphere and attention to details, warm and friendly welcome from Ann Marie. Food choice is a 2 course set menu, lovely meat and fish options. Our dishes were super tasty and the presentation was divine. The complimentary bread, butter and tapenade was a perfect touch. Amazing wine list very reasonably priced, we tried some Italian orange wine and French red. Ended our meal with some dessert and port, everything was excellent. Siobhán looked after us very professionally. Big claps to the chef Olivier and his team, we look forward to come back! Fedi & Jim

21/04/2026: Had dinner here last night and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Kinsale. The food was excellent, but what really stood out was the atmosphere and the way we were looked after. Easy to see why it’s lasted so long. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks to Ann Marie and Siobhán for looking after us.

01/01/2026: Found this place on TikTok, and the pastries did not disappoint! Such a stunning selection and all excellent.

31/12/2025: Quick purchase on the way to the bus. Ate when arrived in Cork. Bun tasted like it was from a "too good to go" but without the discount. Sausage roll much better, however expected more taste for the price.

02/05/2026: Ordered soup of the day to take away. Asked me to call back in 5. Came back to delicious hot tomato and basil soup with 2 big slices of wholemeal brown bread. All for €6. Thankyou 😋

09/11/2025: Great and very nice space! It’s relaxing and quiet, perfect for taking a break or spending some peaceful time. The atmosphere is comfortable and well cared for — highly recommended if you’re looking for a place to unwind, have a glass of wine a pint or two..

04/05/2026: Pricing gouging like you wouldn't see in Temple Bar. The price of a pint went up every hour. I understand that every bar in kinsale needs to make a few bob for the 7s weekend. But this was just extortion. Adding an extra star because the staff were lovely in fairness.

19/10/2025: Love, love, love the food served there. Sadly only managed to get to eat there once while we were on holiday in the area, as cafe seemed to be closed on other days we tried.

16/10/2025: Beautiful food, friendly staff and a warm cozy cafe with some outdoor seating.

21/12/2025: Yummy coffee, hot chocolate, and cakes. Been two weekends in a row now so we can sample more of the cake selections.

17/11/2025: My wife and I were in kinsale for a day. We walked around and found Jo's Cafe. Everything looked delicious. We ordered Carrot cake , orange cake and raspberry scones because we couldn't decide. We were so glad we bought them all. Hands down the best scone in Ireland . The carrot cake was to die for and the orange cake was a new taste I never experienced and was glad I did. If your in Kinsale dont miss out.

06/09/2025: Cute dog friendly coffee shop. Coffee, Iced Matcha and briscoff protein balls were lovely. There is no seating area but this suited us as it was only a pit stop before our walk

25/10/2025: I like a good meal. By good I mean a masterclass in balance, complexity, good ingredients magnificently combined and prepared . . . Rare provided probably the best and most interesting meal I've ever had in Ireland. Wonderful subtle Indian hints brought to Cork produce. Absolutely wonderful!

28/09/2025: Definitely the best dining experience I've ever had. I went to Rare to celebrate my birthday and was impressed with the treatment I received. They really made me feel special!! I had a chef coming over to my table to explain every single one of the plates. It was great to learn the story behind the amazing flavour each one of the plates had. The price falls into the high-end category, but if you enjoy a unique dining experience,  I believe you won't regret visiting Rare.
