Blue Haven Restaurant in Kinsale

We spontaneously decided to have dinner here without a reservation. The restaurant seemed quite full, and we only got a table outside. We ordered the chicken tikka, the fish curry, the salmon, and the catch of the day (hake). After ordering, the staff ignored us. It was very windy and getting colder and colder. Our food arrived over an hour later, after we had to ask the staff about it. The portions were rather small. The food tasted fine, but the mashed potatoes and vegetables were already cold. We didn't want to send them back, though, as we were so hungry by then. Only after we had finished eating were we finally asked if everything was alright, and our mood had plummeted. The service seemed overwhelmed the whole time and wasn't particularly friendly or attentive. We wouldn't recommend it.

My wife and I had a great meal while visiting from Canada. Everything was super fresh and flavourful. Good vegetarian and vegan options as well! The oysters were some of the largest I’ve ever eaten and the semifredo was delicious. We would definitely dine here again if we ever come back.

Very pleasant Friday afternoon spent there, staff were lovely very friendly and helpful. Set in the beautiful town of Kinsale next to the harbour. I had the seafood Korma which was excellent very tasty and plenty of it my wife had the fish and chips, the fish she loved very fresh and the garnish was good but star deducted for the chips, definitely not at all fresh, processed over cooked and a burnt taste. Message passed onto staff.

Had the most delicious meal in the Blue Haven Bar. Everything was outstanding. Fabulous environment & faultless service too. Highly recommend

The best chowder that we have ever tried

The slow cooked beef was so tender and the gravy is very rich in flavor.

The feather blade was amazing!!! Everything else was meh or just really bad! The setting is nice. Be careful with your order. I’m giving this place four stars because everyone who didn’t get the feather blade was not happy.

Its a good spot on the side of the road, youd nearly miss it if you didn't pay attention, having food here was a real treat as it overall was very nice but everything just seemed very slow and we were left alone alot
