Great food. Feel more like a local fast good place. Fish is good and has lots of choice. I ate from Leo muddock temple in dublin before and McDonagh is way better. I got the hake fish and chips and it was 13.6. Galway is a fishing town so fish is definitely fresh.

The fish soup was packed with fish bits and had tons of flavor, but not fishy. The oysters varied in size with 2 being as expected size and the other 4 were small. 6 oysters for 15€. The service was lightning fast and they were super friendly.

While in Galway, my husband I stopped here for dinner. My husband was not feeling well, so I was the only one who ate. I had the fish and chips. You have a few different options of fish to choose from. I chose the cod. Tartar sauce costs extra. It tasted okay. It was very filling.

Excellent place with a welcoming atmosphere, despite the crowds. Fresh and tasty fish, well-fried chips, all served in generous portions.

Great 'place' to eat fish and chips. The smoked fish is especially nice.

A group of us were wandering down Quay Street in search of a late dinner (8:30pm) and noticed this place which was packed with diners. We placed our orders at the counter and about half of us were handed our food and the others only had to wait a few minutes for theirs. The cod was a good-sized portion that was quite thick and nicely battered. It was greasier than I prefer, but very filling. My wife and I shared a large order of chips which were thicker than expected chunks of potatoes that were actually pretty good. My friend ordered the fish soup which he said was very good. It did seem petty to have to pay .80 euros for tartar sauce.

Mcginn's Hop House

18/12/2024: Great atmosphere for the Celtic game and decent pints
07/12/2024: I'm a celiac and hands down the finest 👌 gluten-free pizza 🍕 I've had in galway City and County. Price was also worth the taste. If you're finishing up a hard days work, drop in for a smile, beer, and fantastic pizza
