McDonagh's in Galway

Excellent fish and chips, with a great selection of fish and reasonably priced! Very friendly staff. But I agree with the other reviews, the fries aren't great...

Portions are huge, the fish is tasty but the chips are meh. Kitchen is always open, this makes McDonagh's a prime spot for a quick tasty bite.

The food was good, the service was excellent, but the reason why I give 4 stars is the insufficient number of benches, and the fact that the wind blows directly into my back every time someone opens the door, otherwise everything is fine

Fish we had was cod. It was excellent! The chips were undercooked and not crispy at all, disappointed in those. The line was to the door, but went quickly. All in all, we went for the fish, we weren’t disappointed in the fish. Just the chips.

My supper tonight was cod fish and chips. I ordered two plates . After ordering it was delivered to my table. Food was fresh and hot. Restaurant was very busy. My issue with the food is that it did not stay in the deep fryer long enough. One plate the batter was cooked the fish was not totally. The fries could be crispier. It’s a shame this great restaurant was more about selling plates than making the high quality food they are known for.

We ate fish and chips, it was very good, fries were a lot for 1 person, but very tasty. Service staff was very friendly. Always my pleasure

2nd time dining at McDonagh’s! Highly recommend stopping in while in Galway city. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. Fish and chips are very tasty and fresh. Overall very high quality food and service. Will definitely be back again for the best fish and chips in Galway!

Cod and chips was absolutely fabulous. Wife had scampi and it was exceptionally greasy, daughter had chicken which was very dry. Good service, cool premises

Disfrutó de pescado y patatas fritas y una generosa porción de scampi y patatas fritas. Es un lugar de comida rápida que pides en el mostrador y te sientas. No es un buen ambiente. Tienen una licencia de vino teníamos 2 botellas pequeñas de vino blanco, pero era de muy mala calidad, sin embargo, la comida era sabrosa y recién cocinada. La factura de las dos comidas y 2 vinos fue de 40 euros. 80

While in Galway, my husband I stopped here for dinner. My husband was not feeling well, so I was the only one who ate. I had the fish and chips. You have a few different options of fish to choose from. I chose the cod. Tartar sauce costs extra. It tasted okay. It was very filling.
