McDonagh's in Galway

Truly the best fish and chips. Ordered the cod and a regular chip with tartar sauce. Order at the front counter and they will bring it out to you're table when it's ready. Friendly staff and a laid back atmosphere. Food was extremely fresh and well prepared.

Wonderful fresh cod, huge fries portion. Couldn’t finish it. The sauces were a bit diluted, but all in all amazing value for the price.

This was a gem ln Galway. Short walk from railway station. Its Fish and Chips were excellent. Fast food really at its best. You will definitely see me again on my next visit to Galway

Typical fish'n chips: the cod (cod) and the smoked fish (haddock) are really very good. The fries are average. Too bad: a lot of plastic packaging.....

It has a fast food vibe. You walk up to place your order but it is brought to your table. The fish & chips were delicious as well as the fresh oysters. I highly recommend you visit for a early dinner, the place gets very busy.

I would give 5 stars if it wasn’t for the waitress. My friend was in line already ordering and paying for our food, i went to the seating area looking for seat. I was about to sit down when the lady stopped me, saying i need to pay first. I said my friend is paying, she asked who’s my friend not believing me, i point to my friend standing at the counter ordering. She said my friend still ordering and havent finished paying, so i cannot sit down. Literally only when 30 seconds later my friend came with a reciept that she let go of the attitude. Really… why be so mean? There was plenty of seating too.

A group of us were wandering down Quay Street in search of a late dinner (8:30pm) and noticed this place which was packed with diners. We placed our orders at the counter and about half of us were handed our food and the others only had to wait a few minutes for theirs. The cod was a good-sized portion that was quite thick and nicely battered. It was greasier than I prefer, but very filling. My wife and I shared a large order of chips which were thicker than expected chunks of potatoes that were actually pretty good. My friend ordered the fish soup which he said was very good. It did seem petty to have to pay .80 euros for tartar sauce.

Best Fish and Chips in Galway! We asked a couple locals where the best fish and chips were and we were directed to McDonagh’s.
