Excellent food and very friendly staff

For food, it was extremely good. Four of us ordered three courses and three were not disappointed. Two of us had garlic mushrooms and two had calamari to start. Both dishes were excellent and I can confirm the calamari were cooked perfectly. Mains were steaks, two medium, two medium to well. One medium to well steak was more well done and not particularly to our liking. Only discovered this once well into the meal and it was not eaten once the well done part was reached. Staff I felt almost put the blame for this on the diner. They maintained they should have reported it sooner. Regardless, our bill was not amended to take this into consideration. Each of us enjoyed a different sauce accompanying their steak. I had the red wine jus. It was fair but I felt it tasted as if made from a powder rather than from scratch. Chips on side were tasty and not average frozen type. Desserts were delicious, the chocolate brownie and the meringue with cream and berries was particularly refreshing if a little sweet. We had a nice bottle of white wine (Chardonnay). Table service was good despite comment above, with friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff. They have a very weird system here whereby you cannot book a table. You must just take a chance and hope they have a table free. Otherwise you’ll be told to come back (like we were initially; one hour later). In summary: food was very nice with the exception of an overcooked steak and waiting staff very good. However ridiculous “non-booking” system is utterly idiotic. I’d return for the food - there are a few items on the menu I’d like to try but the “non-booking” system would definitely put me off. Such a shame.

I enjoyed a beautiful coffee and afternoon desert in McLeary's. Top quality. Would recommend it.

Had one of the best salmons and my girlfriend loved her sirloin steak. Great prices and staff was amazing.
