A wonderful visit to the beautiful Kylemore Abbey.

We visited at a time when there were very few other guests and the whole experience felt magical - as if the entire grounds were open just for us. The home was beautifully kept, the postings and signage very informative, the gardens were not quite in season but still quite lovely. We had a fantastic visit.

Built as a love token, you can still feel the love, from the past, the spiritual love invested by the nuns and community and the care of the gardeners. It is well worth a visit. Be prepared to walk and try to visit in good weather. The historic building is fascinating and people around have an excellent knowledge of its history. The walk to the church goes past an important collection of trees. Passing numerous waterfalls and by the magnificent lake this is worth doing. There is a free bus service to the garden. This is a magical place that must be a national treasure. The bus driver had excellent knowledge of the history. Perhaps more should be made of the historic engineering projects and of Marconi. The site has its own unique fire station. Plenty of toilets, clean and serviced. Car parking available. If you cannot find peace here, I doubt you will find it on this planet. A small foretaste of paradise

Fabulous day out despite the horrible weather. Thoroughly enjoyed the informative tour. However, the craft/souvenir shop is grotesquely overpriced. RIP of Ireland at its best.

A beautiful wonderful place. HOWEVER this is a typical tourist trap. And the nuns that took a vow of st Benedict,, you are welcomed as Christ,, they do not fulfill. All about the cash. Typical Roman empire. If you are poor not a place to go.. unless you sit outside with a cup in your hand. You would be very lucky to even get to speak to a nun. So let the snobs enjoy their visit. That place has no respect of Christ. Ps. If you pass nearby letterfrack stop by old boys boarding school, and reflect for a moment. If not to ignorant to do so.
