Great old pub full of character, had coffee and cake today, you've got to try! Update: Had the Guinness, not bad at all, lacks a little atmosphere but not a bad pub.

Morrissey’s Pub, Abbeyleix, is a true generational institution and one of those rare places that feels like stepping back in time. The old pub-and-shop layout has been beautifully preserved, giving the premises the atmosphere of a living museum. The character and history of the building are fascinating, yet it remains warm and welcoming. The staff are attentive and friendly throughout. A special mention to Adam, the manager, who is a wonderful ambassador for Abbeyleix—chatty, informative, and passionate about the town and everything it has to offer. A visit to Morrissey’s is not just a pint or a coffee; it’s an experience and a genuine glimpse into Ireland’s past.

I am 55 years old and I have frequented thousands of pubs in my life, I can say without hesitation that Morrisey's is the best pub that I have ever been in. The Guinness is lovely (which is usually a good indicator),the pub itself is immaculately clean, the restrooms are elegant and tastefully designed. the Lady behind the counter (Orla) is more than professional, Orla knew when to engage in conversation and when to leave people alone, she was friendly and welcoming and happy to explain the history of the pub. I 100% recommend popping into this beautiful pub

A fabulous old world experience. Staff were lovely and lovely nooks and crannies so you can have a quiet chat. Locals very friendly too.
