19/06/2026: Morrissey’s Pub, Abbeyleix, is a true generational institution and one of those rare places that feels like stepping back in time. The old pub-and-shop layout has been beautifully preserved, giving the premises the atmosphere of a living museum. The character and history of the building are fascinating, yet it remains warm and welcoming. The staff are attentive and friendly throughout. A special mention to Adam, the manager, who is a wonderful ambassador for Abbeyleix—chatty, informative, and passionate about the town and everything it has to offer. A visit to Morrissey’s is not just a pint or a coffee; it’s an experience and a genuine glimpse into Ireland’s past.
04/05/2026: I am 55 years old and I have frequented thousands of pubs in my life, I can say without hesitation that Morrisey's is the best pub that I have ever been in.
The Guinness is lovely (which is usually a good indicator),the pub itself is immaculately clean, the restrooms are elegant and tastefully designed.
the Lady behind the counter (Orla) is more than professional, Orla knew when to engage in conversation and when to leave people alone, she was friendly and welcoming and happy to explain the history of the pub. I 100% recommend popping into this beautiful pub

01/08/2026: Disappointing experience. Seated at 7.50, got starters at 8.35 and didn’t get mains until 9.10, with 4 different servers/waiters in between. Our first server had to come back and ask for our orders twice at the start, unacceptable for a table of 2. The food was generally bland and portions were exceptionally small. My lamb, while clearly cooked excellently, was tough. When we asked to see a dessert menu, the service again disappeared so we just asked for the bill and left. Possibly not enough cover and a lot of large tables on the night but we left feeling rather deflated, and hungry. Possibly just a bad night, but would not recommend unfortunately.
19/06/2026: Bramley Abbeyleix is a wonderful dining experience. The ambience is warm and welcoming, with a lovely relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the evening. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and full of flavour, while the service throughout was professional and attentive. A special mention to our waitress, Leona, who was warm, charming and genuinely attentive without ever being intrusive. Her friendly manner added greatly to the experience. Overall, a superb restaurant with great food, excellent staff and a wonderfully relaxed vibe.

28/07/2026: Lovely tasty sausage roll, followed by orange and almond croissant. The flavour combination of the croissant works very well, definitely one of the best pastries I’ve ever had, and well worth a try.
Will be in again when I’m in the area.
23/07/2026: Beautiful cafe with dine in and takeaway options, absolutely superb sausage roll with tomato relish and well priced!

30/06/2026: Stayed here on the 29th of June '26,VERY nice room,VERY comfortable bed,the shower water could have been a LOT hotter,on the date of my stay,I had a VERY nice bowl of vegatable soup followed by a VERY nice plate of honey glazed bacon,veg and mashed potatoe,HIGHLY recommend a stay here

17/05/2026: Wow – the Indian food was outstanding! Everything was freshly prepared with wonderful spices, full of flavour and clearly made with care. A real treat for anyone who loves authentic Indian cuisine.

28/10/2025: Stopped here at the hotel today to be told no food in hotel only pollys at side of hotel, so we went down to it after using hotel toilets which were spotless clean. Went to order stuff from staff to be told that’s a Sunday menu, was looking for 2portions of fries and 1portion of tenders, so that couldn’t be made, it seemed staff just didn’t want to be their at all. Ordered a blt I slice of lettuce took up quarter of the slice of bread bacon heated like what you would get in Burger King, when I was bringing the toasted ham and cheese sandwich back as it was cold I got mayo for BLT as that had no taste at all, soup was nice and shop brought brown bread. The only nice part was where you could sit. Sorry I won’t be back. Or recommending this place to anyone as I had to stop somewhere before I got home for more food after spending €22 plus tip at till
13/08/2025: The seating area is lovely, but the toasted sandwiches were such a disappointment. 6.20 for a ham and cheese toastie that had meagre fillings in it and the cheese wasn’t even melted or hot. A lick of relish or a bit of onion wouldn’t have gone astray. It was the same story for the “Dubliner cheese” sandwich too. 28 euro for 2 sandwiches, a sausage roll, Coke Zero and a kids smoothie.

Came In here once to escape the chills of winter, but with nice stools and counters to have your coffee or hot chocolate at, I've come back time and time again.
Great drinks at great prices with the woman who works here always coming across as kind and approachable.
19/11/2023: Excellent coffee in a shop packed with interesting wines and a great range of quality fancy foods. Lovely staff too.
