Had drinks and a whiskey tasting here. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable of the whiskey and it was a fun spot.

Stayed in the neighborhood for a few weeks recently and visited quite a few times. Lovely place, welcoming and friendly staff, and a terrific pint. Was back in Galway and called in again a few times. It’s always a lovely visit, met some terrific people and, of course, the pints were delightful.

The g Hotel & Spa

26/06/2026: This is a great hotel but it’s not really within walking distance of anything but we had a car and loved the soundproofed room:)!!! Thanks to Jack who helped us get into a different room that suited us better. We definitely wouldn’t hesitate coming back!
10/06/2026: I stayed at The g Hotel twice during my recent trip to Ireland and, unfortunately, both stays confirmed the same conclusion: this is not a five-star luxury experience. The most concerning issue was cleanliness. On both visits, we found hair on the bed sheets. Once is a mistake; twice across separate stays is a pattern. Management's response during the second stay was a complimentary ginger ale and beer, an appreciated gesture, but one that felt entirely disproportionate to the issue. Service consistently fell short of luxury standards. After a 10+ hour international flight, we waited nearly an hour for our room. Staff watched us struggle with heavy luggage without offering assistance, and the lack of a true 24-hour bell service was surprising for a property marketed as five-star. We also booked through Chase Travel and were entitled to complimentary breakfast and other benefits, yet these were never mentioned during our first stay, causing us to miss out entirely. It was only during our second visit that Yash proactively reviewed our reservation and corrected the oversight. To be fair, Yash and Łukasz were exceptional and were the only employees who consistently demonstrated the level of hospitality expected from a luxury hotel. As someone who frequently stays at Aman, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and other luxury properties and regularly recommends hotels to friends, family, colleagues, and professional networks this was a significant missed opportunity. Luxury hotels command luxury prices because they deliver exceptional service, cleanliness, and attention to detail. The g Hotel charges accordingly but does not consistently deliver on that promise. For travelers seeking luxury in Ireland, I would recommend Ashford Castle or The Westbury. The difference in service and overall guest experience is night and day.
