Food: Beef Stew was great. Nice chunks of tender beef, onions and carrots. Save some "sauce" for the sides, mashed, carrots, turnips and roasted potatoes. Service: Waitress had a "short and sweet attitude" no frills, yet not rude in any way. I could see this as a turn off for some but we dont mind it. Atmosphere: Small and quaint, old school. We always try to find those "hole in a wall" places off the main drag anytime we travel away from the tourist traps. Get away from the mainstream places and grab some good food from Finnegans!

Food was ok. Not a single Irish person dining when we were eating dinner. Food was salty, mashed potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes. American country music playing. Not the most authentic atmosphere.

A lovely little restaurant. The menu is concise, but features local dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and appreciated not having to choose between pizza, burgers, and the like. 😋 The service was good and attentive. Definitely a great option if you want to escape the crowds of people, tourists, alcohol, and live music. ☝ Cash only. đŸ’šđŸ§ĄđŸ€

I had THE BEST seafood chowder there, along with soda bread and a pint of Guinness. The service was wonderful!!!

Mixed feelings. The place is very pretty from the outside. The interior, in my opinion, could use a bit of renovation. The waitress was a little gruff at first but very understanding of our limited English and then smiling. I wanted to eat local food, so the menu was very suitable. The Irish stew was excellent, but the vegetables served as a side dish were a bit bland. We didn't have room for dessert, which was extremely generous and more than reasonable for the price. Quick service. A good option for those on a tight budget.

The Lighthouse Cafe

01/04/2026: Delicious vegetarian dishes, a spectacular flat white, friendly people, and it would have been worth stopping here just for the excellent flapjack. Lovely, highly recommended, and a bit off the beaten track from Galway's tourist hotspots in the Latin Quarter!
05/03/2026: Had a lovely visit to Jemi Lighthouse Cafe, a fully vegan cafĂ© located close to AIB. It’s a cute and an Instagram-friendly spot with a cozy vibe. I tried the Terryland Reuben sandwich and the Salthill Squash Salad, and both were tasty. The only downside was that the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price. The place was quite busy over the weekend, but we managed to get seats on the high chairs along the window aisle. Overall, it’s a good little spot for a quick vegan snack, and I would recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

An Pucan

10/06/2026: An PĂșcĂĄn is one of our favourite places in Galway. The atmosphere is always lively, the staff are welcoming, and the service is consistently excellent. We always enjoy our visits and look forward to returning.
06/06/2026: This pub was a great find ! We were looking for an authentic Irish Stew and this was really tasty, wholesome and very filling! This is an amazing pub with a traditional pub at the front, nice sports and live band area at the back and one of the best beer gardens we’ve come across, perfectly set up with a canopy over for the Irish weather. Will be the perfect place to watch sport. It’s a must try in Galway.
