Murphy's Restaurant in Castletownbere

My husband and I had a fabulous dinner at Murphy’s Restaurant in Castletownbere. We started with an excellent prawns and chorizo appetizer and then had the duck dinner and the leg of lamb dinner. We finished with the pavlova. Each dinner had plentiful sides of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, green beans and red cabbage. Everything was fresh, abundant and delicious. Service was very good. We had a lovely chat with the 3rd generation chef/owner who not only cooked a great meal but also made some nice recommendations for our trip. We very highly recommend Murphy’s to everyone coming to the Beara Peninsula.

I ordered a salad with shrimps — it was incredible! The shrimps are huge, juicy and simply divine in taste. I also tried the duck — it was incredibly tasty, tender and well-cooked. Very satisfied, I will definitely come again!

Tasty, uncomplicated food, reasonably priced, friendly service. We had haddock goujons, chicken supreme, sticky toffee pudding, rhubarb crumble, teas, coffees etc and all were excellent.

One of the best meals we’ve had in Ireland. Incredible seafood chowder including several juicy prawns. Johnny, the owner, was super friendly and took this photo for us. He also gave us some tips for a great afternoon drive! Much appreciated.

The service and food were very good and reasonably priced, and the selection was also very good. Unfortunately, the ambiance doesn't live up to the atmosphere; it has more of a fast-food feel.

Excellent restaurant with reasonable prices. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the fish soup because it was sold out. The shrimp cocktail and crab salad were good, as was the Thai chicken. The only downside: it was very noisy because the place was packed.

Best in Castletownbere! The wings are goooood plus the staff are quite friendly I even drove 5 hours to get here (jokes I was staying nearby)
