08/07/2026: What do I need to say about this place that hasn't already been said? I keep coming back any time I'm in the area and it never disappoints. Lovely staff, great music, brilliant atmosphere, always fun.
28/06/2026: Very disappointing Saturday evening meal. The seafood special was tiny, poorly presented and lacked flavour. The battered fish and chips were equally disappointing – heavy, bland batter, tasteless fish and a dried-up sliver of lemon.
Service was no better. After waiting around 10 minutes to order in a quiet bar, I was told to “slow down” while ordering and warned the kitchen “might be closed.” Later when requesting an additional side.
Overall, poor food, poor service and poor value. Based on our experience, the quality simply didn’t match the excellent reviews. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return.

16/08/2026: Great place with lovely food and fantastic staff. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. A special mention for the Full Irish Breakfast with white pudding — best white pudding I have had. Absolutely lovely and a must-try! Would definitely recommend

30/08/2026: I visited Murphy's Restaurant today 28th August 2026 as came to Castletownbere on a weekend break. Absolutely lovely staff, kind, courteous, helpful. The food was amazing, tasty and well presented all fresh not shop bought produce. Only flaw, and this is just a tiny, tiny remark, the food on menu isn't what was served, the food on chalk board menu is what is served, so on menu is only a drinks menu, but it also shows food, maybe so as not to have customers order from this menu, just get a drinks menu list, now, it wasn't the staff fault people were ordering from this menu, as when I was seated IF PEOPLE WOULD ONLY LISTEN,,,, the staff stated the food menu is here (Which they brought out on a CHALBOARD MENU), and the drinks are on the pamphlet list, but obviously people weren't LISTENING.... 100% EXCEPTIONAL FOOD. CUSTOMER SERVICE 100%
25/08/2026: Very accommodating and welcoming to us with our dog and 2 younger children in the covered outside area where they put the heater on for us. Fantastic service and friendly staff all round - the little one was dead impressed with his bonus ice cream 😋 Decent food and portions also, you should definitely consider if looking for dinner.

19/04/2026: We had the room with sea view. There is a charger for EV nearby and plenty of parking in front which is part of the port. The place is perfect for us. Since we checked in on Saturday afternoon and their restaurant is closed on Sundays, they provided us some scones with butter and jam upon arrival. There were cookies too. The room was spacious, warm, and clean. Just note that you might hear the neighbouring room. Smooth stay and right at the heart of the town.

18/08/2026: INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING AND STRESSFUL FAMILY EXPERIENCE!!
We booked for 6:30 PM. Just 5 min after arrival , we were looking into the menu , but a lady who came to take the orders told, "You gotta Order quick, I want the table back at 8:00." This was the beginning of the unpleasant service .
The lady rushed us constantly, checking our table every five minutes. Even worse, I was dining with my 7-year-old autistic daughter, who needs a cartoon playing to stay regulated. Another customer complained about the phone volume .
This is the first time I'm going through such an unpleasant experience.
On top of that, the name is completely misleading—they do not even serve lobster anymore, which hasn't been disclosed anywhere.
We felt so unwelcome and harassed that we left our food, paid the bill, and walked out. Avoid this place if you want a relaxed, autism-friendly environment.
04/08/2026: Seafood chowder was 10/10. Fresh haddock pan fried with chips and a homemade tartare sauce also beautiful. Service very good. Definitely one to visit.

11/08/2026: Huge portions. Very tasty. Great value. Sausages are not what you'd normally expect from a chippers. We ate outside on benches in the sunshine.
11/08/2026: For me my meal was absolutely delicious..I went for Chicken tikka kebab 🥙 ample chicken,, real chicken the flavour was excellent..nan bread freshly made. an absolute delight to have in castle town Bere ..well done to you all continued success agus go maith xx

La jefa sentó a dos nuevos clientes en dos mesas, ante mí.
No hay cura médica para la codicia de esta mujer.
Absolutamente terrible servicio al cliente.
27/09/2024: Ni siquiera entramos en la puerta, nos despidieron de inmediato con un miembro del personal que estaba tomando un pedido de un cliente con "No tengo nada" al menos dejamos que cerráramos la puerta incluso el otro cliente se sorprendió por su comentario despectivo, esta mujer necesita algunas lecciones de atención al cliente o entrenamiento, huelga decir que no volveremos y aconsejaría a la gente que se mantenga alejada con ese tipo de actitud francamente descuidada y grosera
