The best restaurants in Castletownbere

08/07/2026: What do I need to say about this place that hasn't already been said? I keep coming back any time I'm in the area and it never disappoints. Lovely staff, great music, brilliant atmosphere, always fun.

28/06/2026: Very disappointing Saturday evening meal. The seafood special was tiny, poorly presented and lacked flavour. The battered fish and chips were equally disappointing – heavy, bland batter, tasteless fish and a dried-up sliver of lemon. Service was no better. After waiting around 10 minutes to order in a quiet bar, I was told to “slow down” while ordering and warned the kitchen “might be closed.” Later when requesting an additional side. Overall, poor food, poor service and poor value. Based on our experience, the quality simply didn’t match the excellent reviews. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return.

07/06/2026: I was in sugrues multiple times last week and during my trip to west cork, it is a lovely small little restaurant. The food is gorgeous, and the staff are brilliant. All the fish and meat are fresh from the local fisheries and butchers. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you are in castletownbere.

08/05/2026: Only one friendly and smiling person in this restaurant, the garlic bread was low quality, the salmon was fresh—the only positive point. Very disappointed

19/04/2026: We had the room with sea view. There is a charger for EV nearby and plenty of parking in front which is part of the port. The place is perfect for us. Since we checked in on Saturday afternoon and their restaurant is closed on Sundays, they provided us some scones with butter and jam upon arrival. There were cookies too. The room was spacious, warm, and clean. Just note that you might hear the neighbouring room. Smooth stay and right at the heart of the town.

15/08/2026: Dinner at Murphy's: delicious food and the friendliest, most attentive staff I've encountered in Ireland! Average prices, plenty of parking in the square outside... highly recommended!

14/08/2026: This is a fabulous family owned restaurant on the Main Street in Castletownbere. We got a family table for seven. We had a mix of a lot of things. Everything was perfect. Very reasonably priced. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
