I found Nancy’s Barn on Google Maps while looking for a place to have a late lunch after a day touring the Northern Irish Coast. We are on holiday from the USA and places like Nancy’s Barn are making our trip special.
It’s a gem that’s off the beaten path and just down the road from Malin Head.
The menu is creative and the chowder is definitely a star (with a rich history). The fish tacos were quite tasty and prepared perfectly - they go well with onion rings. And I really enjoyed the apple crumble to finish off the meal. The staff are friendly and fast.
We got to meet Kieran (the owner) on the way out and that made our visit even better. He’s so energetic and nice and really proud of his restaurant.
Do yourself a favor and stop here if you’re in the area.
When you announce you've been crowned World Champion of Seafood Chowder, expectations are high. Here, those expectations are far exceeded. The chowder is truly fantastic, so much so that we immediately ordered a second bowl. A must-try!
Great service from a dedicated crew, it was very busy but they found me a table for one very quickly.
I ordered their famous Chowder and I was not disappointed. Very generous amount of fish in the stew, tasty and very colourful. Chased down with a pint of stout...A real Irish meal...Thank you
09/08/2024: We went as a family of 12..From 2 y old ( they have high chairs) to 65 y old. The setting overlooking the double links course with floor to ceiling windows was stunning. The service was first class. We ordered 6 different meals and every plate was emptied! VERY reasonably priced it it suitable for locals/golfers and passing tourists! I had worse Michelin star meals in London basements! Drop of at the front door.. lift.. and stunning balcony for a smoke! Please support it!
