Main dining room has a wonderful ambiance. Staff were very friendly and gave just the right amount of attention to us. Food was delicious! We had langoustine and chicken liver pate to start followed by the pork chop and hake for main course with a side of the charred cabbage. Good wine list and some non-alcoholic options too. The Irish strawberry cheese was fabulously light and not too sweet. Overall, a lovely dinner.

Great atmosphere and service, lovely setting. One main was good but sadly the other was almost inedible. The overall appearance of the dish on arrival was off putting. A huge amount of charred chicken sitting on a large amount of a mayonnaise type sauce with a large portion of charred salad!veg which was drowned in a strong balsamic dressing. No subtlety to contrast with the charred chicken

Best meal we had in kinsale! Had the beef short ribs and was the best meal I've had in a very long time - the flavours were incredible, would highly recommend. Bonus was that almost every item on the menu was gluten free including the desserts!
We were there on a Thursday evening so it was fairly quiet but I believe it gets busy every other night of the week. Fantastic service too - will definitely be back next time we're in kinsale.

Highly recommended! We have dined at No. 19 on numerous occasions and have been delighted every time. The food, staff and ambiance are outstanding. Sarah is warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the wine selection and menu. Chef Cristian prepares absolutely wonderful dishes. My husband had a ribeye on our last visit that he deemed one of the best he's ever had. With advance warning, Chef Cristian also prepares delicious off-menu vegan dishes for me on every visit, offering me different selections on different visits...all fabulous! The ambiance in the building is lovely and we particularly enjoy the table my the fireplace. Don't miss the chance to dine at No. 19! Bill and Barbie Kelly

Really excellent service. The slow cooked short ribs were outstandingly delicious - so tender! Roasted vegetables were very good. The Telmo Rodriguez LG Valbuxan wine was delicious. I didn't love the strawberry cheesecake (which was more the consistency of mousse) but my husband enjoyed it. Open on a Monday was a plus.

I booked with some hesitation as there were not a lot of reviews and the ones I saw were a bit mixed. This is a high quality restaurant with a few, very fixable flaws.
We were greeted quickly and seated for a 7pm reservation on a Monday evening. Some of the finer restaurants in Kinsale are closed on Monday and the town was quiet compared to the crowds we saw even on the Sunday evening. The wine list is not extensive, but well thought out and seemed reasonably priced. We ordered a French Cab Merlot that was recommended and was good value at 40€.
We started with the Burrata and some extra sourdough (it should probably be served with enough for the Burrata portion). The Burrata was excellent - served with olive oil and a bit of salt and pepper, it absorbed into the sourdough beautifully. We ordered the cod and the pork. After seeing the dry age system, I regretted not trying the beef striploin, but the pork was also local so I stayed with my choice.
The cod was perfect - cooked as it should be, flaky and delicious, perfectly seasoned and the green bean side was excellent. The pork was nicely seasoned and flavourful. I think it was slightly overcooked - not unbearable - pork is finicky and you don't want it undercooked, but this just missed the sweet spot in my opinion.
Timing of service was excellent. Atmosphere is A++ with a majestic and historic feel, linen napkins and a warm, comfortable room.
Areas to make it even better... Music was a miss with American pop. Almost anything else would better suit this room and clientele. Candy served after dinner are delicious and I ate a bunch of them, but personally, I'd switch to a small, local chocolate for each guest in this environment. The nits I am mentioning are to be helpful to an otherwise excellent restaurant. I would return without hesitation.

Attended a private function at the weekend and cannot fault the restaurant, service staff and chefs. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the location was beautiful. The staff were so welcoming and professional, a truly great experience and would highly recommend for a private function.
