O' Neills Bistro in

Edited in response to owners response: Honestly was excited to come here with my family. We are traveling on vacation and this was our final day in Ireland. We normally take recommendations from locals in the area and everyone was telling us to come here for dinner. It would have been nice to know that reservation was required and we understand that it is our fault in that regard. However we didn’t know that. When walking in the restaurant was empty minus maybe one couple. The host seemed really rude and unwelcoming after she found out we did not have a reservation. Never did she tell us that she could seat us 45 minutes after and said they were fully booked at first. We asked if there was a way to out our name in incase there was a no show or cancellation which she informed us that there wouldn’t be because there is a 24 hour notice (which there still can be a cancellation, things happen all the time). She seemed reluctant to put our name down for a later time and I never received a single text or call about our reservation at 8:30 pm. When we left the pub next store an hour later it was still pretty empty we came back to see but understand that there would have been more reservations coming in. Maybe she wasn’t being bias but she certainty was rude and we never got any notification that a table was ready and maybe if we had we could have had a better experience and got to see the what everyone was talking about. To the owner, i left a review as we may not have eatten there but still experienced your staff and host. never commented on the food since we never got to eat here and to be told we are “hangry” by you for leaving an honest review on how we were treated is crazy. Wish you and your restaurant a wonderful new year.

Really a fantastic restaurant that is a bit out in the country. The Chef-Owner does an amazing job with a multi course menu and the food quality is very high. The service was wonderful and they handled our group of 16 very well.

The place is a located a short distance from Cashel. It was nice to get out of the town for a change and try something new. On arrival, there was plenty of parking right beside the restaurant. As we entered the staff were so nice. Walking in though it felt more like a workplace than a warm welcome atmosphere. We were brought to our table and given menus. The food looked and sounded amazing. We ordered and didn't have to wait to long to get our starters and mains. They do a 2 course meal for 37pp. They do a 3 course meal too for I think 47 euro. The mains came and it looked incredible. I got the steak. I ordered the steak. It was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten, cooked to perfection and charred. My issue was the sauce was lukewarm and the puree and what looked like cabbage mash was stone cold. Then the potato was roasting. I think timing was just off in the kitchen. A big thing for me though was, we spent the whole hour and a half brushing away flies. They were everywhere. Flying, on the table, on the plates. They were fruit flies. Not a bad thing against the restaurant but it's something that needs to be looked at because it was so frustrating. The flowers on the table were a nice touch but they looked dead, and they were fake. Will I go back? . Yes I'll go back 😁 There is also a pub 2min walk from the restaurant if you want a pint after 🍻
