We only had a Guinness and a Baileys on the rocks; but the prices are considerably cheaper than in other places in the area. The atmosphere is relaxed.

O’Connell’s was a great pub for a drink near the bustling Latin Quarter. While it is located just off of busy Eyre Square, it was still cozy and comfortable. Many locals popped in and the bartender knew them by name. Speaking of, Paul was great and provided good conversation and a good recommendation for dinner (Brasserie).

Our favorite place on a post Christmas vacation to Galway. We were at a hotel nearby and this was recommended. We fell in love with the music, the vibe, the pizza, and the people. I think we made a stop in every day of the four days we were there. It has a great pub then a larger area in back with bars and music and pizza at night. It was here that I discovered the pepperoni and candied jalepenos pizza from Dough Bros, which I had every day after discovering it.

Laoise and Callyn are genuinely the most dedicated hospitality staff I have ever come across. They went above and beyond to help me, in a situation where I lost an important family ring on NEW YEARS EVE, and did not stop until they found it. Having worked in hospitality for over 7 years these acts are what makes a business rememberable, and make you want to go back and give them your custom. Genuinely the best hospitality I have ever received and O'Connell's Bar will have my custom years to come because of there kind acts this evening.

01/11/2025: Enjoyed a wonderful lunch today in the company of other travelers in this exciting city of Galway. It was a nice surprise to stumble upon a restaurant that catered to my dietary needs. The menu wasn't overwhelming and there was a nice variety of choices to choose from. I ordered the Terryland Reuben with a vegan cheese which was VERY good and afterwards enjoyed a complimentary slice of vegan cake that was absolutely lovely. The portions were perfect! I actually left with the cake in a take out container. If you're looking for a quaint and affordable restaurant to enjoy a vegan meal, this is the place!

The Skeff

09/09/2025: Authentic pub with fantastic food! Service was rather mediocre.
09/09/2025: The Skeff is part of the The Skeffington Arms Hotel. Food was very good. The Seafood Chowder and a couple of (non!) Stout beers from other parts of Ireland were a welcomed change of pace. IPA's, actually. One from Letterkenny, and the other from Kill, County Kildare. Other than the service being just a tad slow, it was (overall) very good. And the live music was magical this night. Okay...Not exactly magical, but covers from bands/artists that everyone knows, sung by a group of a youngish band of 3 called The Groev. They did a great job, actually.
