Off The Square in Clifden

This restaurant was recommended to us by someone we met in the streets of Clifden. The daily lunch specials are homemade. We had a very good meal, for example, sea bass, squid, and even a steak for around €17. The chef is clearly skilled, and everything is homemade. The service was pleasant and professional. It just lacked a smile.

Fresh and delicious chowder, lots of chat, a strong flavor, and the salmon was delicious! Not dry or tough. The risotto was excellent, similar in quality to Italian risotto! The portion was generous, and it came with a salad. The owner gave us water directly, which was very generous, no need to ask. 🥹

We had fish and chips once and roast beef once. The fish in the fish and chips was very good. The portion was large, and the tartar sauce was also very tasty. Unfortunately, the side dishes were rather mediocre. Everything in the roast beef was very good except for the vegetables. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and located in the heart of Clifden. The staff is present but rarely visits the tables.

Hearty breakfast and good tea. Not sure why they have plastic toothpicks though 🤔

Slightly noisy but so good, the lobster is very good value for money
