The best restaurants in Clifden

09/06/2026: I went there to try the Irish whiskeys, and my girlfriend ordered the Dulay gin with Fever Tree tonic, the best tonic in my opinion. The prices are reasonable, and the waiter gave excellent advice.

06/06/2026: Having looked in all other bars in Clifden I would always choose this spot. Lovely friendly staff, great music, clean and tasty pints. Plus super welcoming to our dog. Thanks lads 😊

20/04/2026: Authentic old castle hotel. Timeless, great service, clean & today. Beautiful spacious bedrooms & unbelievable bathroom size with shower & seperate tub bath.

16/04/2026: I’ll start by saying the waitress suggested the early bird special. It was 8 o’clock, wasn’t that early but she said they still offered it. At the end of the meal there was some confusion over what the early bird special included as we thought it was one of the listed starters, one of the listed entrees, and any of the menu desserts. So that is what we ordered and we were never questioned by the waitress for clarification even after pointing to the special page. But if you read the menu closely, it’s either a starter and an entrée or an entrée and a dessert. Small print on the top of the menu and they’re all listed on the same page on the menu leads one to thinking there’s actually a special price. The reality is there is no special price. The food was good. The mussels were local and good with a large quantity. The seafood chowder was good, but a little thin. The soup of the day was potato and celery. Initially, I thought restaurant was good and a good value, but after the misunderstanding I was not as impressed.

23/06/2026: I was in a cycling group passing by, this restaurant was simply delicious 😋 the service was very friendly. If passing again I'll for sure be ordering the chowder.

13/06/2026: Just had theee most amazing meal in this restaurant the flavours of each dish were amazing had the chicken salad for starters oh my goodness the flavours had pork belly & risotto it was the best we ever ate didn't take any photos as we couldn't wait to taste definitely will be back absolutely stunning

09/06/2026: Such an amazing food town again here in Ireland. These small towns have the best food! Had the rack of lamb and a local Irish beer that was just so perfect. Young lads working hard as one was in training.

21/06/2026: We came to eat a Connemara lamb shank, which was unfortunately overcooked and full of gristle. A real shame, especially since the welcome was quite cold. Another disappointment.

16/06/2026: Thoroughly impressed. We ordered the mussels, I had the lamb and my partner had the duck. Everything was cooked perfectly. The portion sizes were insanely large, the value of this establishment is incredible. The service beat the Michelin star (Homestead Cottage) we went to the night previous by miles. The atmosphere was traditional, it was mostly middle aged / more older crowd but felt trust worthy for a local and more authentic experience. However, the service was vibrant and not stuffy. Highly highly recommend.

18/05/2026: The staff here make your stay very special . They are so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and the breakfasts have a large range. The smoked salmon, scrambled eggs & capers are delicious.

05/07/2026: I've been of to hundreds of restaurants, as my job involves being on the road a lot , and I've never complained about staff ( tough job) but the waiter here absolutely ruined the whole experience for my elderly mother . Unbelievably rude . " what you want ?" was as polite as he got .

01/07/2026: Highly recommended! A lovely, cozy, and welcoming restaurant with a menu that focuses on fish. Between the oysters and the salmon, which to choose? Both are delicious! And the main course... the fish was perfectly cooked and fresh. Yum! Everything was perfect. Oh yes, it seems to be a popular spot, so it's best to make a reservation.

27/05/2026: A charming old historic hotel full of character and authenticity. It is very centrally located right in the heart of Clifden, which naturally means there can occasionally be a little bit of street activity already early in the morning. However, the unique location and atmosphere more than make up for it, and the prices are very reasonable and fair. We especially enjoyed the breakfast — the homemade plum compote and homemade apple compote were absolutely delicious. The hospitality from the entire team was excellent, and we felt very well looked after throughout our stay. We were very satisfied and would gladly return.

21/05/2026: The room and bathroom were spacious, very clean, and warm. There were plenty of breakfast options, and the restaurant was excellent with friendly, attentive service. Highly recommended!

07/07/2026: Nice pub and good food, but I can't comment on the atmosphere tonight as they're showing football and I'm not interested. 😉

06/07/2026: Delicious food, large portions and good atmosphere with live music every night at around 8pm.
