01/06/2025: One of the few pubs around that serves proper lunch during the day. Lovely burger and chips and didn't take too long. Definitely sit inside for faster service, nice girls working, was 18.5€ for the meal (no drink).

26/04/2025: Hesitant to try this place at first due to its reviews but the less ones seem to be from one year or more ago and mostly about being understaffed. Went here today and it was just fine. I admire them offering so many food options. It feels like a KFC, McDonalds, Burger King and New York Pizza in one. Staff was friendly. Place looked clean. Food was served in about 25 minutes and tasted okay. Nothing spectacular, nothing bad either. I guess just on par what we would expect from such a place. The large 14 inch pizza is really large and would feed 2 to 3 people easily. The one with barbecue sauce on it has too much bbq sauce on it making it only taste like bbq sauce. Could do with a little less so the other flavors can also be tasted. Free parking in front. Customer toilets available. Pity on the no refill policy on drinks.

25/01/2025: I had the opportunity to taste a real Irish stew in this pub.
For this alone I recommend if you visit Connemara.
However, I cannot give a rating on the atmosphere. We had lunch one afternoon and were the only people in the pub.

Happy to have stumbled into this shop on our trip around Connemara.
09/09/2024: Great place where to find very tasty launchboxes, with lot of different ingredients available. The bread is fantastic as well.

Stepping into "The Rusty Mug" is like entering a time machine, but not in a good way. The interior is a bit worse for wear, with a musty smell that clings to your clothes. The furniture looks like it was salvaged from a skip, and the overall vibe is more "dingy" than "charming."
The owner, well, he's a character. Let's just say he has a short fuse and a penchant for confrontation. Any minor complaint or deviation from his rules is met with a verbal onslaught. It's not the kind of place where you feel comfortable relaxing and enjoying a pint.
The drinks are cheap, and the bar snacks are what you'd expect. However, the owner's aggressive behavior completely overshadows anything positive. Unless you enjoy being yelled at while you try to enjoy your evening, steer clear of this one.

04/06/2025: Menu has mistakes on it. The falafel wrap is not (!) vegan even though it says so on the menu (it contains eggs). Personell has no clue about their own food they serve. Second waitress even insisted it’s vegan even though her colleague already checked the ingredients of the mayonnaise. Critical for people who’re allergic. Better check twice!
01/06/2025: I cannot fault their bakery, their produce looks fantastic and lots of local jams and other produce. Only reason for 3 stars.
Cannot fault their service either.
But I had their full Irish (menu has it as something different), I think I paid €13, including tea.
Considering the price, the portion size was absolutely tiny. They were so stingy that the black and white pudding was cut in half, in a semi circle rather than the full portion. The sausages were tiny.
If it was €7/€8 I wouldn’t mind, but for €13, I think it’s steep. Especially for the area, you’re not in the city.

23/03/2025: We ordered a large order for over 20 people for hen party. The restaurant were very accommodating and dropped up our food. The food was delicious and everything was correct in our large order. The staff were lovely and responsive throughout. Would recommend!

The Lamplight Wine Bar and Merchants

26/05/2025: Good position, poor room accommodation, bad service (breakfast is not served until 9 o'clock, quite uncomfortable if you need to leave early in the morning - as a result we paid for it but we only had some cereals...). I do not recommend this place.
24/05/2025: The pancetta wrapped pork medallions were the best dish I had on our tour of Ireland. Their arancini and ravioli are also mentionably delicious.

27/03/2025: I used to be a regular of this takeaway with my partner and it was fine but god now the last two times the service has be so so bad over half hour for are food terrible service we be going to apache from now on and the food is actually nicer
05/03/2025: Great spot for a good breakfast, 6 euro including a nice coffee, where would you get that value? Standard of takeaway food is generally very good her for the price.

Tom King's Bar And Snug

27/08/2024: The best craic and pint of Guinness in town. We were met with open arms from the locals and the bartender. The guys really know their stuff about Guinness, from storing it to serving it, had quite a few pints in there and all of them were nothing short of perfection!
