The best restaurants in Clifden

31/08/2026: We had bacon and fish pie; the food was hearty and delicious. While waiting for a table, we enjoyed a Guinness at the bar, listening to traditional music. The only downside for us was the price; this pub was the most expensive we visited in Ireland.

25/08/2026: Bad experience at this pub. After being seated, we waited at least 30 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. We finally decided to leave and went to a nearby restaurant instead

05/10/2026: What an odd place. The reviews make you feel this is a great place to visit but I'm not so sure. I'm a vegetarian dining with a meat/fish eater. One vegan option on the menu. Ok, it's a highly regarded fish restaurant, I'll go with it for my meat/fish eating partner. Service is...unfriendly, even when booking. No-one seems to care about the food, none of the staff even talk about it. Conversation is perfunctory, the place fills up with tourists. Bland veg soup, 3/10. Had to ask for salt and pepper. Vegan main course arrives- 5/6 vegan nuggets and tiny dry green salad. I ask for some kind of dressing, given chip vinegar shaker thing and some nondescript oil. Nuggets taste of, well some type of deep-fried vegan nugget and I put down my cutlery and eat my wheaten bread (10/10). How is your meal asks a sullen young man who doesn't care. It's dreadful, I say. He walks away saying this is a fish restaurant, what do you expect? I ask for bill. All staff except one have left the full dining room leaving one who takes our money. Do better I say. They had grace enough to remove 18 euro from the bill. My partner says his chowder and fish was perfectly acceptable. Good for him.
