The Lamplight Wine Bar and Merchants in Clifden

If you haven’t been to this wonderful restaurant yet, get your glad rags on immediately! This is the best restaurant with top quality food and wonderful staff! The food was incredible and extremely reasonable for the best mouthwatering food I’ve had in a long time. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Update March 2024: The Lamplight has added breakfast/brunch on the weekends and weekdays over the summer. They are open a bit earlier than other places which is nice if you're more of an early riser. The food is also more upscale and updated. Breakfast is hard to find in town and this is a great addition to this awesome little spot From Jan 2022: Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had. We've eaten at the Lamplight once before in Fall 2021. That time, we had an amazing wine and ambiance experience and the food was good. Tonight (January 2022), was just exceptional. The wine selection was impeccable and the food superb. Our server, Ivan, was friendly and knowledgeable. Every bite of food tasted well planned and created with pride. We loved it so much we booked again for this weekend. If you are in Clifden, love amazing food and wine, this is the place to go. Great atmosphere and even better dining.

Absolutely loved Friday curry night, the best I’ve had in a long time. I had the korma & kofta, my wife had the tikka. Great vibe too in the restaurant, felt really cosy & friendly.

Excellent tapas in the restaurant, as well as a comfortable ensuite room to overnight in, hosted by the very hospitable and friendly Naomi and Lance. Parking is in front of the restaurant, not in the narrow lane at the back where eircode H71 P789 will mistakenly direct you to if using Google Maps for road navigation.

Finally a excellent quality food restaurant with a broader choice than the usual burgers and fish and chips. Their meat and vegetables are second to none. The staff is so good and the owners so friendly. It's a staple among clifden restaurants. Gilles, French customer

Great place to stay. Ivan made sure our short stay was everything we needed with excellent customer service, fantastic evening meal, comfortable bedrooms and lovely continental breakfast. Thanks so much to all the staff.

HOLY SMOKE THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE. Shout outs to The Chef, Ivan, and Chloe. I stayed one night during a cycle tour around Ireland. Fortunately, all my riding let me work up an appetite. After a warm welcome, and settling in to a very comfortable room, I came down to demolish their menu as best I could. Ate my way through as many of the tapas as I could stuff in to my greedy face. The smoked duck breast, and the mussels both stood out, though all were incredible (Mac+cheese, roasted cauliflower, crispy potatoes, spinach and artichoke, and chocolate tart). It paired well with a delicious cocktail of White Port, Honey, and Lemon. Great food, great hosts, and surprisingly inexpensive. Thanks Lamplight!

Had a delicious Sunday lunch with friends, the staff were very friendly and the candles and music added a lovely vibe. Would come again
