Mitchell's in Clifden

Highly recommended! A lovely, cozy, and welcoming restaurant with a menu that focuses on fish. Between the oysters and the salmon, which to choose? Both are delicious! And the main course... the fish was perfectly cooked and fresh. Yum! Everything was perfect. Oh yes, it seems to be a popular spot, so it's best to make a reservation.

We booked Mitchell’s restaurant on the recommendation of friends. The ambience was super and had a gallery feel. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The only disappointment was the main course which had no flavour. The crab salad starter was very tasty and the chocolate dessert scrumptious. Very cosy restaurant especially on a cloudy Friday June evening.

A decent spot with a good atmosphere. The restaurant operates two evening sittings at 6:30 pm and 8:30pm, which is worth noting when planning your visit. We started with the clam chowder, which was flavourful and enjoyable, though slightly on the salty side. For mains, I ordered the scampi, which arrived deep-fried — something that was not made clear on the menu. Had I known beforehand, I likely would have chosen something else, so it would be helpful if the menu described the preparation method more clearly. Overall, the food was a little salty for our taste. Service was fine, but there is room for improvement in terms of attentiveness. A reasonable option for seafood in Clifton, but a few tweaks in the kitchen and front of house would go a long way.

Very fresh and tasty seafood. Highly recommend. I got the fish pie but everything great on the menu. Worthwhile stop on the way to Connemara National Park

We had a fantastic meal here. The cod was cooked to perfection and was swimming in a delicious sauce with some vegetables. The desserts were also absolutely superb. The service was certainly good as well. We gave a five-euro tip; judging by their reaction, they had expected a bit more... Be sure to make a reservation, they work in two shifts and it gets busy!

Went there for lunch I must say the oysters, the clams and the fish were pretty damn good. Had fish and chips as well. The fish was a little bit oily but still very decent to the taste. Must say 4.5 is a little bit low for this restaurant as it was a very good experience from top to bottom very clean located in a nice area. And the food was pretty spectacular. I like oysters again after having them from this place they were so fresh. A must go.

Fantastic sea food restaurant, top quality food and service. The chowder and fish pie were excellent.

The food was decent, the mutton stew wasn't "extraordinary" (I've had much better in Ireland), and the prices are above average. There's a room upstairs.
