My daughters and I recently stayed here at this absolutely beautiful castle. The staff was wonderful and so welcoming and friendly. The evening started off with a champagne meet and greet with a terrific host! He was a great storyteller and so engaging. He made everyone feel as if you were an old friend. The food and accommodations were amazing! You just can’t say enough about this place. Truly a wonderful experience!

Rooms clean and well maintained. Staff is pleasant, friendly and welcoming. Grounds are beautiful! Breakfast is amazing. The only drawback here is the shower. Shower head should be extended outward so you're not having to stand over the tub faucet when rinsing. Not a deal breaker by any means. I would still highly recommend staying in this historic castle!

Didn't stay, but had a superb dinner. What welcome, atmosphere and ambience. Everyone having a wonderful time. Homely, warm, professional...all details taken care of...a great and friendly groups of people staying as guests. Overall exceptional. Owner Ronan invests a huge amount of time and energy to make everyone feel welcome. He has lovely touches and methods of making that happen. I won't spoil all the amazing surprises.

"The Abbeyglen Castle Hotel's complimentary Prosecco Reception before Silver Service Dining is part of their charming and informal hospitality." Consistency is at the core of this team's purpose. Great effort goes on behind the scenes which allows for a perfect, comfortable and memorable stay. This property has a tangible ethos of friendliness and professionalism. The castle is positively quirky, genuinely friendly, entertaining and very authentic. With a 8 minutes stroll to Clifden town from their Castle Door on its own grounds, their new pathway is a bonus point. Breakfast and dinner are a delight with a great selection on offer. Locally sourced ingredients ensures variety and superb service. The staff are excellent ambassadors for Irish Hospitality at its best. This property is a family run business, and most definitely worth including on your bucket list. The Abbeyglen Castle Hotel is about 65 minutes drive West of Galway City - driving on beautiful and stunning scenic routes via Oughterard and Maam Cross.

We had a deluxe room, which was amazing. Our daughters' room was more basic and rather musty. The whole place was very charming. Food was mid, at least dinner. I might eat in town if I had to do it again. The crowd was definitely older, and that's saying something because I'm 60.

Lowry's Bar

15/04/2026: The perfect pub to experience the magical atmosphere of Ireland: an absolutely fantastic whiskey bar and servers who are happy to make you any cocktail you want! A perfect experience!
11/04/2026: One of the best pubs in Ireland. A trip to Clifden and a visit to Lowry's are a must. Even better in the evening.

Griffin's Bar

08/04/2026: Enjoyed two bowls of amazing soup and brown bread. The chowder was fantastic. Great friendly service in a nice pub atmosphere.
11/03/2026: This was our 1st trip to Ireland, and Clifden was on our drive. As we were walking around, we took notice of the lunch menu and the food stood out - not your normal pub fair! We were surprised to find everything had a true chef's flair and delicious. The owner engaged us in conversation and guided us to a warm fire and funny jokes. Then some more locals popped in and joined us and it was a great Irish moment; everything you come to Ireland for!
