Marconi Restaurant in Clifden

Good service should prevent guests from making a mistake when ordering, instead of just praising everything as "Excellent." The lamb ribs with mint sauce absolutely must be ordered "pink"; because the chef didn't quite get "well-done" right, they were just tough and dry. Another culinary disappointment on our holiday.

Thoroughly impressed. We ordered the mussels, I had the lamb and my partner had the duck. Everything was cooked perfectly. The portion sizes were insanely large, the value of this establishment is incredible. The service beat the Michelin star (Homestead Cottage) we went to the night previous by miles. The atmosphere was traditional, it was mostly middle aged / more older crowd but felt trust worthy for a local and more authentic experience. However, the service was vibrant and not stuffy. Highly highly recommend.

We stayed at the Foyle's Hotel and had dinner at this restaurant, followed by breakfast the next morning. The service was impeccable, very friendly and efficient. The food was truly excellent, without being overpriced. The setting is beautiful; a very pleasant surprise indeed.
