What a lovely surprise once you walked through the door!
A bar/bistro in its original form.
Even though the bartender and waitress were only two in a room that was filling up quickly, they were friendly and cheerful. The service was fast (great for an evening), the presentation was beautiful, and the food was excellent! The portions were generous and reasonably priced. The only downside was the tiramisu: it wasn't soaked enough, there wasn't enough coffee, and the cream was very heavy.
Otherwise, everything was perfect!
Food was good. Fajitas with beef were great, cajun chicken Alfredo had a nice sauce but chicken was pretty plain.
Service was very slow but nice and professional.
We hat a sticky toffee pudding which was nice but overpriced.
Unfortunately like everything in Ireland now it's just too expensive. €9 for dessert and a small dessert at that is just overpriced imo. Our meal consisted of 2 starters, 3 mains, 3 desserts, 2 soft drinks a wine and a beer and it was €143. Factor in a tip and it's over €150. I could have spent the night in a hotel for that. We had to ask several times for our drinks. Lovely staff though but price will always dictate returning customers unfortunately.
Our experience at the Old Arch Restraunt Claremorris Mayo was not what we had hoped it would be for the prices they charge. Booked our table for 5pm on Fathers Day in the restraunt Arrived at 4.55pm and no table ready. After a 15 min wait we were lead to the out door area to be seated which I refused as I had booked the restraunt. We were then told we would have to wait another half hour for a table and to have a drink at the bar. We had to ask for a table to be cleared so we could sit and have our drinks while patiently waiting. Might I add no appology give any stage. When we finally got seated the service was poor. Dishes left at the end of tables for us to pass around ourselves. Flies at the entrance door and flies around the restraunt. Very, very poor so we wont be back
We have just had the most amazing lunch at The Old Arch
My husband and I shared mussels to start which was delicious . To follow I had the goats cheese in filo pastry my husband had the beef and
Guineas casserole. I could not tell you which was the best because both where just amazing and so much food.
To finish we had pavlova and a trio of ice cream.
A 500ml of Shiraz wine and a cocktail .
All of it , including the service, blew us away.
No wonder it’s so busy it must have been the voted the best restaurant in Ireland .
Well done. I need a nap now.
13/10/2025: I used Araby Cofffee House to cater a private party for 70 people and it was such a success! Ciara was very easy to work with and made it simple. She was realistic when it came to quantities and the cost was very reasonable. I wanted only vegetarian food and it was delicious - people even asked for the recipies! Ciara came at the appointed time with all that was needed (plates etc included) and discreetly set everything up and collected it the next day. I would really recommend and can't wait to eat in the cafe soon!
26/08/2025: My husband and I popped into this cafe before our train needing a hearty meal served fast and couldn’t have wished for anything better. Our order was taken very quickly and the delicious food was served soon after. The breakfast came with coffee / tea. A much needed pick me up before a long journey. Thank you so much!
