Old Darnley Lodge in Athboy

A return visit and nothing has changed. Same great Staff and atmosphere. Didn't stay this time. Arrived on a Sunday for lunch and a great buzz in the place,and very busy. A big area to sit and eat in. No waiting for a table considering it was so busy. A Carvery available and nice choices. Good value and great flavours. A very nice menu for kiddies also great value. Very child friendly. TV's and l could see sports. A big car park, on entrance a barrier which will rise on entering,and on exit you will have a code. Wheelchair accessible for eating areas. I am open to correction so please double check,l think l recall when l stayed there was no lift that didn't effect me, but l don't think there were ground floor bedroom's available so not wheelchair accessible. Please check on booking in case l have made a mistake. Located on main street in Athboy, close to shops, pubs etc. This is a lovely Hotel and well worth a visit.

Exceptional restaurant and staff. My family and I dined here yesterday and had a wonderful day. The food was delicious, and affordable. The staff incredible and the overall atmosphere warm, kind and comfortable. Highly recommend.

I visited Darnley Lodge Hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The restaurant caught my attention because the food was delicious, with a very homemade taste and satisfying portions. There is a variety of menu options for different times of the day, including vegetarian and vegan choices, as well as a friendly bar and lounge often visited by locals and guests. The location is also interesting for history lovers, as there are remains of Athboy’s medieval town walls nearby, dating back to the 14th century. I recommend it for anyone looking for a simple, comfortable place with the true atmosphere of the Irish countryside.

Popped in for dinner,roast beef...absolutely fantastic...hot,fresh,tender. Staff and service top class. Very affordable.

Former Athboy resident here. Revisited for a meal for the first time in many years. Absolutely top knotch. Food is top tier restaurant quality level, service is frequent and professional. Nothing is an issue, portion sizes big and very pleasant/ accommodating servers who clearly value your custom and want you back. Prices reasonable too. Highy recommend.

The hotel definitely has a great atmosphere, I liked the decor, the rooms are large, the breakfast is delicious, the staff is very nice and helpful, this is what every hotel should be like.
