Great cozy pub next to the castle. Felt very traditional, not touristy, with good Irish seafood. We had the lobster and the salmon respectively, and both were excellently prepared. We were able to get a seat with no problem on a week night, our service was acceptable but for sure the food stole the show! This is a must destination when in the quaint town of Donegal!!

We had lunch here on Friday and as it was busy we had a long wait.My husband had fish whuch he enjoyed but the serving of chips was small.I had salmon which was lovely.The mash was like smash to which too much water had been added and there was about a level spoonful of cabbage.I left still hungry.

Stumbled on this place outside of Donegal castle and so glad! The roast chicken with vegetables and wine sauce was sooo good! My best meal yet. They were very accommodating in removing dairy for lactose free diet, and delicious. Old castle atmosphere was fun.

No reservations possible. We received a very friendly welcome. After a short wait, less than 5 minutes, we were seated at a great table with a view of the bar. The food was served quickly, the soup of the day was already served, and no one noticed that the drinks were missing. They only responded when we asked. After that, they repeatedly asked if everything was okay. The soup was a bit bland, but the main course was delicious.

Kaitlin was home from college, she did an amazing job. The lamb stew was excellent. The Kinnegar IPA was great.

Amazing little stop for lunch. I had fish and chips. Spouse had venison stew. Love little coves and decor. Everything was timely.

The Olde Castle Bar is a traditional Irish bar with a warm atmosphere. It is located directly opposite Red Hugh O'Donnell's Castle. The food is excellent and well-prepared. A great place to stay in Donegal.
