On a recent visit to Dublin, this bar was our favourite! In the heart of the Temple Bar neighborhood, the atmosphere was lively, music was superb, and Gabriella the bartender remembered us from the previous day and made us feel like “regulars”! Nice people serving up a fun time! đŸ» 🇹🇩 🇼đŸ‡Ș

Oliver St. John Gogarty’s at 2 Fleet Street sits at Temple Bar’s literal crossroads—green-fronted, flag-draped, impossible to miss. Spread over three floors of two of the quarter’s oldest buildings, it trades on its namesake (poet-surgeon, Buck Mulligan muse) and on non-stop trad sessions: fiddles and bodhrán from 1 pm to closing, seven days. It’s loud, busy, and self-aware tourist catnip—expect standing room weekends, a downstairs bar, a first-floor music hall, and a restaurant above. Food is solid pub grub (seafood chowder, beef stew) but secondary; people come for the atmosphere and the chance to sing along after a few rounds. Cons match the postcode: prices are high, toilets are down a staircase and queue, and locals often give it a miss for quieter spots; a 2025 visitor said “expensive but Dublin is,” yet called the lunchtime session “great” and bar staff “very efficient.” Two hours covers a set, a pie, and photos of the façade’s flags. Go 1-3 pm for a bar stool and clear ears, or dive in 10 pm-late if you want elbows-out renditions of “Whiskey in the Jar.” It’s not secret Dublin and won’t teach you Joyce, but as craic-first immersion it delivers—central, confident, and always playing.

It's a place that should be experienced. Good history surrounding Oliver St. John Gogarty's. Delicious food. Adjacent bar with good atmosphere.

It was very busy because the rugby match was going to be played in the evening, which made it loud, crowded, and too stimulating for me. So, I'll do it again.

A classic Dublin experience...live music, Guinness, lively atmosphere. Table in the back for 6 was a nice surprise. Drinking age is 21 at this place.

The Irish stew was excellent. The fish and chips were disappointing. Despite the low number of customers, the service was unfortunately quite slow.

A fabulous bar with a fabulous atmosphere and great music a bit expensive but nothing more than you would expect to pay in bars in this area

19/12/2025: Love this little hidden cafĂ© near the Four Courts. Great coffee paired with genuinely friendly, efficient service. It’s a popular spot with the legal crowd, and it’s easy to see why — smooth, high-quality coffee, a lovely selection of pastries and light lunch options, and very reasonable prices. The space is airy and welcoming, with a charming nod to the building’s history (look for the old Medical Mission sign). A small place but well worth seeking out. â€ïžđŸ«¶đŸż
