Amazing place! Super friendly service, delicious burger and a really cozy, classic pub-style interior that makes you want to stay longer. And of course - the Guinness was top-notch 🍺 Definitely coming back!

Absolutely great atmosphere with really good music and reasonably priced drinks, especially by Dublin standards. It was much quieter than the busier bars around Temple Bar, which made it far more enjoyable.

Sure, the coffee isn't fancy! But everything is delicious: the perfectly cooked eggs, the crusty bread, and the bacon… Simply amazing! Best breakfast in Dublin! The place is authentic.

We stumbled upon it by chance. A real gem, lovely atmosphere. Despite our limited English, we understood each other perfectly! A truly wonderful ambiance. I recommend it 200%. We were there yesterday and came back despite the distance from our accommodation! Meals and pints were very reasonably priced! Thanks for everything!

Really nice place with amazing atmosphere! We ordered Fish n’ Chips, which was really tasty. They have a wide selection of beers and whiskey, as well. The prices are normal and the staff helpful. There was also live traditional Irish music, which was pretty amazing!

The chowder and beer were great; however, the ribeye was super fatty and chewy, and the stew was quite bland. I'd say the stew was the worst I've had in Ireland.

17/01/2026: We booked a large party on short notice and the food, service and atmosphere were all amazing!
10/01/2026: First time dining at Matt the Thresher. Gorgeous decor and vibes and lovely staff. The service was excellent and the drinks were delicious. The night we were in was a little crowded and there were some very drunk, very loud tables around is which somewhat spoiled the atmosphere at times. My wife and I don't eat meat which somewhat limited the menu, she had the much lauded scampi and I ordered the vegetarian offering which was a squash gnocchi. The pasta dish was incredible, light, rich and delicious and a perfect portion size. The scampi, though very tasty, didn't quite live up to the hype or the nearly 40euro price tag. Definitely a good eat and a beautiful spot, but there are places to get an equally fantastic meal for half the price, so I can't give it the 5 star.
