I have been going to Osta for many years but I have to say recent experiences have been a huge disappointment. The vegetarian options for breakfast/brunch are very limited. The pancakes with almonds, yogurt and honey were a favourite but the new menu has replaced almonds with gritty flaxseeds that stick in your teeth. I recently ordered a breakfast without bacon - asking to sub it for 2 potato cakes instead. The waitress served my order with bacon and 2 extra potato cakes. English wasn't her first language and she had clearly misunderstood me. When I paid I had been charged for the additional potato cakes - and paid full price for breakfast with the bacon. I noticed on my receipt after I left.
On my recent visit I ordered the vegan beans on toast and it was utterly bland, unseasoned and quite dry - a very unpleasant texture that was hard to digest and I left the rest of my meal uneaten. Certainly not worth €9 for some tinned beans and tomatoes on dry toast.
The bathroom is one of the worst I've seen in a cafe in recent years . It is oddly orientated, feels grubby, you can hear the kitchen staff audibly. The last time I used it was this weekend and I was absolutely disgusted by the state of the toilet. The seat had been left up by the man who used the bathroom before me and the underside of the seat was completely stained yellow and brown by what looks like years worth of urine. It has totally put me off eating here if the owners can't even buy a new toilet seat, and certainly it seems that the bathroom has not received a deep clean for years. Staff shouldn't be expected to maintain clean subpar facilities.
All that being said, the floor staff are to be commended, they are always very polite, helpful and efficient. I really hope that improvements to facilities are forthcoming, as it was one of my favourite cafes to go to on regular visits home.

Friendliest people you could meet working there - particularly brown haired man (Monday 23/06). Great coffee & delicious eggs. I was awkward and ordered the eggs Benedict without ham (am vegetarian) & they happily offered kale and mushrooms instead. Top class service and delicious food. Lovely to sit outside by the river. 10/10 recommend!

Osta is a great place for breakfast. Really nice, efficient staff. The location is really good and overlooks the river with seats outside.

I spent around €18 at Osta Café and Wine Bar for a solo lunch, and it felt like money well spent. I ordered the toasted goat cheese and beetroot sandwich, which was rich and full of flavour — the kind of combination that’s clearly thought out and not just thrown together. Alongside it, I had a flat white that was smooth and strong, just right for a midday pick-me-up. Finished it off with a fresh scone served warm with butter and jam — light, crumbly, and absolutely hit the spot.
The atmosphere at Osta is calm and classy, but still very welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you can relax by the riverside and take your time. Whether you're stopping in for coffee or sitting down for a longer meal, it feels just right — not too formal, not too casual.
Service was solid too. The staff were friendly without being over the top, and they had everything out in good time. You can tell they’re used to regulars and treat new faces just the same — with a bit of warmth and a smile.
Great selection, good food, perfect service, good wine. The cakes were also very good. Great location by the river, good music... we'd love to come back... The tapas looked and tasted delicious.

I can't explain how much we loved the restaurant, it was a fantastic evening... We went with a group on Thursday. We ordered all the menu set to try them. The staff were so friendly and nice. The music was amazing, the players were so professional....I absolutely recommend it and I'll go back as soon as I find free time to enjoy my evening
I recommend to reserve your table in advance so you have a secured place to sit specially on Thursdays that they have live music

It was delicious! We had some tapas, the goat cheese toastie and spinach thing were amazing. The waiters were quick and friendly, the music was nice and the river nearby was amazing. I would highly recommend it to travellers to Sligo who are looking for good food and a nice place to stay.

Having a full Irish breakfast, and some sandwiches and pancakes, not bad! The price was fair, the food was nice. Although I wouldn't have minded a slightly bigger portion. It wasn't really impressive for something called Full.
The food was good, and delicious. Although it was a regular weekday, it was very busy, we had to wait for somewhat 15-20 minutes, before we were seated, and once seated, we had to wait somewhat 10 minutes before we could order. But with the location and the atmosphere, it was absolutely worth it. Beautiful location, and very cosy with all the people around you. Although it was busy, it wasn't too loud, and you could easily have a good conversation with your partner.
There was even seats outside, alongside the river, very beautiful.
I would absolutely recommend coming here for having a good coffee or tea, and then have a cake or anything, but the lunch is rather on the cheap side. Maybe not for a next time, but the cake and tea, absolutely yes!
