This place was such a treat for the weary travelers that my Dad and I were at this point in our epic Ireland adventure. The wonderful manager at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel had sent us here to wait for our bed and breakfast owners to make it back from Dublin. The staff was so gracious and accommodating. First let's start with the food though. The oysters were amazing. We got both the natural and grilled oysters to start both were amazing! Then we both got different seafood specials that didn't disappoint. Then the staff were such great people we couldn't thank them enough. We left to meet the B & B owners nobody was home. We ended up coming back my phone was useless in the area and we couldn't get ahold of the owners. They called them found out they got held up by an accident on the way. So we ended up just having to hangout with the great staff in a wonderful place until the owners came and joined us before heading back for the night. What a fun experience and so happy to be able to share it with the great food and staff at The Oyster Tavern!
We had a delicious meal. I recommend the seafood tagliatelle with generous elements of salmon, prawns, monkfish, and crab claws in a fine white sauce. There was a lively atmosphere, attentive and friendly service.
Lovely position with views across to the Dingle peninsula. Great food at reasonable prices. We can recommend the mussels, the scallops and the potato wedges. The mussels were a starter! Large car park
Visited here on a trip to the UK and Ireland from the USA. Easily the best meal we had on the entire trip. The service was very friendly and prompt. The seafood was cooked perfectly, and very fresh.
Had a marvellous dinner here this week with my mother, adult daughter and two adult nieces. We were seated by the window with a view of the Bay and Slieve Mish mountains. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious - my vegetarian daughter raved about her stuffed red pepper. Portions were generous. We had a great evening at the Oyster!
01/01/2025: Lovely spot for a takeaway, shame they no longer have a dine-in area.
We do appreciate that they have a website where you can pre-order for pick up. They also make baguettes, which are amazing; even better when they are fresh out of the oven.
Have ordered seafood takeaway and have tried their 'Asian dishes' but was disappointed with their pad Thai, as it was an egg noodle stir fry/no flat noodles and the sauce was not right.
Tried their scampi, for the price (in line with inflation), it is generous. Their chips were a big hit for those who don't like the soggy 'chipper chips'. Monkfish scampi was meaty.
Would visit and get a fish and chips when we're back in the area again.
20/10/2024: Had a fantastic prawn and salad sandwiches after a lovely walk and a good coffee sat outdoors in the sunshine 19th October thanking you for the extra fresh monkfish and fish cakes which we cooked for dinner that evening
