Very good place for a dinner, is a bit loud inside but you can find a spot in the place for a more private date. Highly recommended. Contrs: is expensive.
My friend and I went to The Oyster Tavern for a meal on a Saturday night. For starter I got the red onion and brie tart-it was tiny! Looked ridiculous on the large plate. 5% pastry, 5% brie , 90% red onion. Not nice! My friend got the garlic mushrooms -a much bigger portion and very tasty! Our mains were unbelievable, so so tasty. I got the hot fish selection, my friend the monk fish In a prawn and leek sauce. Both were 10 out of 10. Personally I don't think steamed carrots and peppers suffice as a veg side but that's just my opinion! Had plenty mash and chips.
The dessert. To be honest we were both stuffed but looked at the menu anyways! And I remembered their famous chocolate fondant! We had to get it but could only manage one between us. This has significantly decreased in size and was just cakey, no oozy inside. We didn't bother to finish. Very disappointed.
There was a hurling match on the TV so it was naturally very busy, and loud! We waited for ages for somebody to pass to ask for the bill. That didn't happen. So I got up and went and asked for it. I was asked to hang on while it printed and was handed a piece of paper... We waited at our table for a bit but my friend eventually had to get up to pay as she was paying with card. Not the end of the world but shouldn't have happened. When the service was good it was really good, and prompt but when it was not good it was really not good. Having said that everyone was very pleasant.
A very mixed bag....
Myself and my husband had a fantastic meal here on the 11th of June 2025. You will not leave hungry. The portion sizes are big. The selection and specials are amazing. We had the cold and hot seafood section, which was amazing. The staff are wonderful and very attentive. Highly recommend 👌
Had a great meal with my family 5 adults and 2 grand children aged 11 and 5. A good selection of mostly seafood was enjoyed by all and served by friendly staff.
Didn't have a reservation and was told it would be a 15 minute wait and to go to the bar, wanted to give a name but they said they'd remember us. Forgot about us and waited over an hour.
Bar lively with locals.
Variety of dishes. Raw oysters plate with fresh local fare was delicious. Nice rack of lamb, and a brief Bartlett, good portions.
The food was exceptional, particularly the fish. The surroundings are stunning and the atmosphere was fantastic. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. I loved it. Such a treat.
