We stopped here at the weekend on our way home. Plenty of parking at the back. We hadn't reserved a table but the staff found us a table for 6 of us. Very much appreciated as we were all hungry. Ordered steak Sambos and kids got gougons & chips. Everything was delicious, must say was the best Steak Sambos we had in a very long time. Everything cooked perfect.
When came to desert unfortunately wasn't what was advertised. The kids preferred the waffles and Nutella but when came it wasn't Nutella but rather some chocolate sauce out of a bottle seems like, but on the menu it said Nutella & waffles. For the adults the deserts are overpriced to be honest @ €8.50.
A friend from Galway took me here. It's quite well known, especially for their fish & chips and other seafood options. Locals love the place. Nice traditional pub space with separate small rooms. We both ordered the seafood chowder and shared a bowl of mussels. The mussels where the best I've ever had. It was a huge amount! Very few dudes in the pile... Service was also fantastic.
The duck was well cooked. However, the taste was unimaginative. There was no real wow feeling. The mashed potatoes were very dry.
The seafood soup was slightly unsalted, but this could be remedied.
The service was not perfect. The appetizer was brought out at the same time as the main course....
We had a fantastic time dining here in Clarinbridge. The atmosphere was welcoming, and everything we ordered was presented perfectly.
We started with a fresh plate of oysters that were served with a generous wedge of lemon. The mains were equally impressive, especially the burger and the hearty sandwich served with crispy chips. Everything tasted incredibly fresh.
To top it all off, we enjoyed a perfectly poured pint of Guinness with that iconic creamy head. We will definitely be back soon.
19/11/2025: Poppyseed is a wonderful place to spend an hour beside the river with an outdoor seated area overlooking the river and bay. The food is freshly cooked to order with plenty of variety. Coffee is the best I’ve had in any location worldwide!! Seriously, the coffee is a lovely blend. It is the heartbeat of Clarinbridge village. It has a beautiful garden centre practically linked to its back entrance. The staff are just lovely, well trained and very friendly. Go and enjoy. Pat Surlis
