Nice old fashioned pub offering great Guinness & a fine selection of whiskey. Prices are reasonable given the location. Well worth a visit.

Our first stop in Dublin for our very first Guinness, and it couldn’t have been better. The Guinness was perfectly poured and tasted fantastic. The pub had a great traditional atmosphere, and in the evening it was packed with locals and visitors, creating an amazing vibe. We enjoyed our pints outside on the street, which made the experience even more memorable. A perfect place to start a visit to Dublin!

Great bar the palace looks great and the wee snugs are brilliant. Great pint of Guinness and they have a tasty Clockwork stout. Hard to get a seat, but still worth going to. It was so busy.

Built in 1823, it transitioned to a public house in the early 1900s under the Ryan family.Family Ownership: Purchased in 1946 by Bill Aherne and run by the same family for generations. Frequented by legendary Irish writers and poets like Patrick Kavanagh, Brendan Behan, and Flann O'Brien. Served as a primary watering hole for The Irish Times editors and reporters due to its proximity to the newspaper's former offices. Retains its original mahogany woodwork, gilded mirrors, and vaulted ceiling with stained-glass skylights. A tiny private wooden booth where historical figures like Michael Collins allegedly held secret meetings. An upstairs bar featuring hundreds of distinct whiskeys, including exclusive house-selected labels.

The service was ok, the atmosphere is certainly more chill than the general area, in a positive way. The Guinness was not the best pour I've had. Probably would not return.

A gem. The only pub in the area to bother visiting. Wonderful decor and atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Martin deserves a special mention of praise.....he's an excellent barman.

I happened upon this place next door to my Hotel. (Shoutout to The Fleet Hotel) I was kinda expecting a touristy knockoff of an Irish Pub, but I was pleasantly surprised. The bartenders were friendly and the backroom's stained glass melded perfectly with my Guinness. Highly recommend and I'm still thinking about this setting.

15/07/2026: Lovely place with really amazing service. They remembered I was a vegetarian and also brought us ice-cream with a candle as we were celebrating a special occasion. Thank you so much!

21/08/2026: Sandra has been absolutely amazing, so friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend coming for breakfast and a nice pint of Guinness and a bottle of bubbles.
21/08/2026: Sandra was great! We visited from Philadelphia and she gave us great pointers for visiting both within Dublin and the suburbs. In addition to being a great server - friendly and efficient! Love, Adriana from Philadelphia
