25/04/2026: We visited here on our cruise to Vancouver BC Canada. The food was great and the service was excellent. If you are ever in the area we highly recommend this restaurant.
25/04/2026: Was invited here for dinner after a day of blackberry and yard work.
The one item I was interested in trying, the French Dip (Awesome French Dip as its called). From my childhood, a local restaurant made an excellent French dip that I could not find its equal anywhere in Salem. About a year ago, I finally found one on par in Mill City Oregon. As such, when I go out, if there is a French dip, thats what I order as I want to find other places to get good food from.
While I don't typically get appetizers, as I'm small eater, and it means my meal becomes take-home, more than it usually is, for the table, we got the Pacific Rim Cheese Bread, the Blackened Steak Tips, and one of the specials, Pizza Soup.
One thing to note, I don't like foods I have to salt, or pour sauces on to make them good, my preference is to consume as served.
The Pizza Soup, a good tomato soup with pizza toppings, actually really good, my first thought that I'm sticking too, I want the pizza soup with a classic grilled cheese sandwich.
The Pacific Rim Cheese Bread, I was impressed with and it will be a regular order every visit. I live a good garlic bread, a little Cheese and even better. The consistency across all pieces was phenomenal. Even temperature, soft fluffy bread, light crisp crust and golden brown edge, light penetration of topping into bread but in no means soggy with a creamy consistent topping. Perfection with every bite.
The Blacked Steak Tips, tender juicy and flavor packed. An appetizer you must try as served.
Awesome French Dip. I will say, it is deserving of the name, this sandwich for me, has earned its spot as a recommend French dip which is only the 2nd I've had in Oregon that compares to my childhood restaurant experiences. As with all the other foods I tried, the consistency in texture and flavor was on point. Honestly, the consistency of texture and flavor of everything I had for dinner was the most surprising.
I can't say I have eaten at all the best restaurants, I dont eat out a whole lot but there are times... Across all the foods, texture, flavor, consistency, seemed impossibly consistent for every bite. The French fries that came with my French dip, was the only hint at a slight consistency change but to be fair, the fries on top and then digging the bottom of the pile, the light crisp of the exterior and smooth fry. To the bottom of the fries, only the slightest of texture change in crispness of the fries but still seasoned perfectly.
Most of the time, fries are just fries, different types at different places, and with fries, I alway order a side of BBQ sauce. I tried the fries as is, loved them. Figured I better at least try them with the BBQ sauce since I did order it... that didn't last long, I had maybe 3 fries with sauce and went back to the fries as served...
At the table, ordered by my good friend, I believe he had The Teres Major Filet, as looking at the menu, its the one listed as marinated and that was something he pointed out about his steak. I was given a piece to try as well.
Steaks are not something I can really each much anymore, simply due to having full dentures now and they don't chew Steak well and will often try to come out, let's just says its not fun, and most places I've had Steak, its a long time of me trying to cut it tiny to try and enjoy, takes a long time to consume, and becomes frustrating.
Simply put, the tenderness, flavor explosion, depth of flavor throughout, whatever the marinade process is, I have not had its equal anywhere. If you enjoy a good steak, try this one...
Normally I don't do deserts, simply, I have leftovers as it is and I don't really need the sweets. That being said, I heard the deserts available and locked in on a slice of peanut butter pie... This desert was served in a take home box as we were leaving as requested for a treat later that night when I had some room for it.
A slice of peanut butter pie, chocolate and I think caramel drizzle with chopped nuts sprinkled. First bite to last, perfect consistency, you have to try it.
