Pier Head in Kinvara

Have been several times previous and it was always great. Today however the food was very poor. I had a sirloin steak which I asked to be done medium well. It was very very tough and cooked very well done. It certainly did not taste like a good quality cut of meat either in my opinion. My wife had Duck breast which was mainly bone and skin and was served with a baked potato as opposed to mash. Very disappointed and let down with the quality of food. Service, setting and atmosphere were all every good.

We are eating in this place several times per year and it always was great. After yesterday’s experience I kinda started to doubt my senses. Tasteless blank seafood chowder and fries that gave me an impression of very abused grease. Guys, what happened to your chef??? Waitress did her best to cheer me up, she was lovely but the front desk guy gave me that look that I immediately felt unwelcome. Smiles costs nothing. I know you can do better than that. A pot of mussels helped a little but I doubt we will be back any time soon. Such a shame.

We went as a last minute booking of a 6 ,costly for ok average food although large portions , not always necessary. Not sure all was homemade. Staff very friendly. food was served very quickly no time to rest between courses , felt we were being rushed. Overall ok

Good place for dinner; we were seated on the outdoor terrace, which was cold as the door wasn't closed. The food was quite good and the portions were generous.

Great service and nice atmosphere. Local and nice simultaneously. The food is very mediocre if I’m being kind. I got shrimp that was probably a 300-400% markup and not fresh at all. Stick to the red meat or something local and avoid the prawns. My mistake. Overpriced but get that they need to survive.

Great place to eat! Perfectly cooked salmon with a jacket potato Sea bass cooked to perfection And a great atmosphere Fast and efficient service I recommend it 100%!
