Pig's Ear in Dublin

We were offered several excellent traditional dishes, I opted for the Shepards pie, it was delicious. I tasted the cod dish, also spectacular. The service was impeccable. I finished my meal with the house cheesecake and a tawny port. I recommend this place as a “must try” even if you were only in Dublin for a single night.

Some really yummy food across the menu. The portion sizes were perfect to leave very satisfied without feeling bloated (had 3 courses, a glass of wine and a cocktail). Could do more to create a bit of a vibe inside as it was neither in the realm of fine dining, nor casual enough to feel completely comfortable having a full volume conversation.

The food was really good. The service could be improved, agree to all previous comments on staff, specially the owner - seems like asking on the dishes was a personal offence. Staff were also not very attentive. Slightly pricey for the portion size, but overall good.

My wife and I had a lovely dinner here. The service was incredible, don't be shy about asking what some things are if you aren't sure. They will be more than happy to guide you. We ordered the Jammet's Mixed Grill, Leo Burdock's Cod, and Greens for our main course. All of it was very good, I'd highly recommend the Mixed Grill. We also had the cheesecake and Orange Seed Cake as dessert. Both were very good, just the right amount of something sweet after dinner.

We had two flies on our window all through dinner and a group of screeching flies that bothered us too much.

Food are excellent But service not to expectations

Nice authentic Irish restaurant. Pricey, but worth it. I think we got lucky to be seated without reservation.

When you’re still thinking about a meal you had at a restaurant two days later you know it’s top tier! The food is absolutely exceptional, the depth of flavour in the each of the dishes was impressive. We had three courses and there isn’t a thing we’d change. Communication from our lovely waitress was clear - Cote de Pork would take 45 minutes and we were glad we waited. If we were locals we’d be visiting regularly!

Outstanding food. So why are staff so disinterested? We were served by someone who gave us the menu and immediately disappeared without a welcome or an explanation of the dishes (the dishes had local names and we didn't know what they meant). I raised this and the person responded quite abruptly and we felt so rushed that we ordered starters to give us more time to decide on mains. We were told "I'll give you 2 minutes, but it can't be longer". Two minutes later they returned and when we still weren't ready they said "1 minute". At that point I asked if we were on a time limit, which in retrospect was probably a bit sarcastic but what do they expect? The waiting person was then replaced by other people. They were a bit nicer, but the personal touch (interest in customers) expected from this quality of restaurant is missing.
