Cafe + Record store will always be a fantastic combination

What a place. The owner is honest to god one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting. Class selection of records, and zines, but particularly what makes the shop standout is their DNB selection. It’s the only place I know of in Cork, maybe even Munster that stocks some of these records. I’ve found many a gem here. Great hip hop too, some more niche stuff that you’d never expect to see anywhere else, like Shawty Pimp and other Memphis acts. Such a welcoming atmosphere, you can play a record at your leisure and indulge in a great croissant, a great cup of tea, and have great chats. Love the place. Class.

Plugd Records first caught my attention with its bold yellow exterior, which is hard to miss and immediately makes you curious enough to step inside. The concept is a great one, combining a record store and a coffee shop under one roof. The space itself is relatively small, but it’s been laid out well with plenty of seating, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment without feeling cramped. Five of us stopped by for a quick coffee. The menu is fairly compact and the coffees were perfectly decent, but for me the drinks aren’t really the main reason to visit. What stood out was the atmosphere. There’s a genuine sense of community here, helped by the friendly team and the unique setting surrounded by shelves of records. It’s the kind of place that feels full of character and encourages you to linger a little longer than planned. Not necessarily the most memorable coffee I had in Cork, but certainly one of the most memorable spaces. I’d happily return for the atmosphere alone.

Coffee & vinyl stores combine two of life’s great pleasures. Whether you’re a crate digger or not the combination can bewitch. And so it proved for me today. Kudos to PLUGD for casting their spell of 1 part tasty coffee to 1 part Ambient. I left with my swag thinking, where do I buy a turntable round these parts…? Two thumbs up.

it might be my own fault. i went in here thinking it was a record repair shop where they give you the oil to put it back together. so i went in and just poured a large mocha all over my steely dan vinyl. i'm very sorry to the poor worker that had to clean that shit. i got embarrassed and left.

Super tasty black coffee, tasted so delicious that we visited the place back the next day again in our short stay in Cork. Will come back again there when in Cork
