Quay West in Donegal

We had a really delicious meal in The Quay restaurant with friends last night and thoroughly enjoyed every dish made with wonderful local ingredients. The smoked haddock dish was another level! Such a warm welcoming team and the atmosphere and beautiful coastal decor is so relaxing and the perfect backdrop to enjoy a top quality meal. Cannot wait to go back. Txs to Jo for the lovely welcome and the team for looking after us so well. Five stars all the way.

I recently visited Quay West in Donegal Town, and it was a fantastic experience! The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. We had seafood, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.my kids had lots of squid rings, which were a real treat! Everything tasted so fresh, and you could tell a lot of care went into the preparation. A special mention goes to Jo Daly, the owner, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Her hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re in Donegal and looking for great food in a beautiful setting, I highly recommend Quay West. Fantastic food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere—definitely worth a visit! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a wonderful meal this evening, the staff were professional and very helpful, the manager went out of her way to make sure we were catered for as I have a disability. The food and service were 100%. Without a doubt the best place to eat in Donegal town.

Quay West never dissapoints, The quality of the food is superb, Jo and the gang do their very best to make you feel welcome.

I had emailed the owner to book a table for 2 to celebrate a big birthday for my husband and mentioned to her of the occasion at the time of booking. She requested further information with a professional attention to detail. On arrival to the restaurant, I was very happy with our table by the window. The owner herself took our order and was very warm and friendly introducing herself and having the chat. We shared a Bottle of Spanish Tempranillo for €28 which was good. We both decided to forego a starter to focus on the main event. I chose the 10z Rib Eye Steak (€32.50) with mushroom and onions and silkie whiskey and maple sauce (recommended by the owner) and included side of my choice (fries). My husband picked the 9oz Sirloin steak (€30.95) with mushrooms and onions and peppercorn sauce and (upgraded) side of garlic herb roasted potatoes with a supplement of €1.50. We both added 4 craft beer battered king prawns for €6.95 each to our steaks. We were both impressed with the steak (& how they were cooked to our asking), battered prawns, respective sauces, mushrooms and herby potatoes. We thought there was excess onions on each of our plates. We shared the infamous caramel crunchie Sundae at €9.50 which was good. Overall, I did think the dessert options were an area to improve on the menu. I was delighted that staff marked my husband's birthday with a flare candle suitably embarrassing him. I loved the fuss made of him and the occasion so big thank you🙌🥳 I would recommend here for dinner and a special occasion where a deserved fuss is made on request. Hope to return in the future when we are up that neck of the woods.

We spent our last night in Donegal dining at Quay, and it didn’t disappoint. From the exceptional service to the high-quality food, everything was perfect. The steak was definitely chef-approved (we dined with a hotel chef) Plus, we were able to get a reservation for the same day. ⭐️Thanks a lot!

What an absolute gem of a restaurant. I was a solo diner, staying in a local hotel and decided to walk the extra few minutes to Quay West because the menu online was exactly what I was looking for. I’m so glad I did - the food, the cosy atmosphere, and the warmest of welcomes. The icing on the cake was Jo who went above and beyond in terms of service - what a lovely, unexpectedly memorable experience. I’ll be recommending Quay West to anyone visiting Donegal and I hope to be back myself very soon!

Dios mío, desde el momento en que entramos el servicio fue insuperable. Una cara amable en la puerta (Jo) y un servicio eficiente (wee Sophie) Me burlé de mi entrante, que era el hongo en una salsa de crema. ¡Increíble! Y para cuando salió la red estaba ansioso por más. Tomé el filete con mantequilla de ajo. Una mezcla con los lados resultó en un lado en la casa (gracias amablemente) muchas gracias por una gran noche de cumpleaños! Volveremos de nuevo 😁
