Food and staff were amazing, pints were great and really good value

Popped in for lunch. Had smoked salmon on shop-bought brown bread - no salad but a bit of grated carrot without dressing, asked for lemon and black pepper to liven it up myself. Husband had a BLT and a few frown chips. How does any of this qualify as ‘gastro’? Didn’t ask for the dessert menu and decided against a coffee.

Excellent service and good food with attention to detail

I have been going here for years and it was always bang on , my wife and I went there last week and the chef has changed for the worst. The steak was cut from a joint of beef and defo not sirloin, fries were both old and freshly cooked but again only 2/5 , my wife got salmon but her mashed potato was gray and clearly sitting there most the day , the starter chicken wings were shocking , cooked to death with a very poor side salad , I’d like to go back but is defo struggle. The staff out front were flawless , young and chatty Kitchen needs attention quick 🙏

I had looked all over to find a place to eat and ended up coming here and I had such a great experience. Came for a nice local meal and stayed until closing talking to Sean and Shonagh! The sweetest people and wonderful atmosphere:)

Bar is beautiful. The fire was lovely as it was very cold and wet outside. I ordered bbq chicken wings with a bluecheese dip, and french fries. My son ordered cajun chicken panini. My wings were dried out, and obviously not fresh today. They were served on top of a spoon scrapping OF blue cheese dressing, and drizzled with bbq sauce from a bottle!! The little sise salad was limp. The French fries were OK. My sons chicken was really dry aswell. I asked for more blue cheese as it was supposed to be dip and the waitress brought it then in a little dipping pot. Honestly, I felt that I was just getting left over blue cheese dressing scrapped on a plate- I'm not saying it was but that is what it tasted and looked like. I ate 2 wings and my son ate tge rest along with the chips/ french fries. The reason I scored a 3 star was based on friendly staff and lovely bar atmosphere. But food I'd only give 1 star. I would not serve that food at my own table, so I expected more.

Good food. Great atmosphere. Have visited several times. Highly recommended. The bar manager is a lovely man - friendly and welcoming.

Friendly, accommodating. We had 8 adults in our party. We were sat quickly and the table was spacious. Our cocktails were wonderful and food was hot and fresh. I hadn’t ribs and they were tender and saucy. A glass of wine and Baileys cheesecake with ice cream for dessert topped off our night. But the service was exceptional and what I remember the most. Thank you for a great dinner!!
