Regan's Gastro Pub and Restaurant in Roscommon

Good food and relaxed atmosphere!

Dined in Regans on an early Friday evening. Got the last available table at 6pm. Shared starters of Brie and seafood. Both excellent. Steak sandwiches, burger and fillet steak for mains. Absolutely delicious. Fillet was amazing. Lovely service in cosy surroundings. Will definitely be back.

After eating here on Saturday I thought I’d come back for my last meal in Ireland. Had the chicken wings which were nice if not a bit dry. There was no taste of blue cheese in the creamy dressing. I had to pull a bit of steel wool out of the chicken which I left on the plate to tell the waiter. For main course I asked for the fish and chips but instead of chips can I have mash. He said that’s fine and took the menu .. he then came back to clarify and I said the fried fish and chips but mash. He said is that the hake I just said whatever the fried fish is. (It’s not like I had a menu to check) I then got served the special of the day which was pan fried fish on a base of tomato chick peas and kidney beans and a side of mash. They did offer to re-cook a fried piece of fish but I didn’t want to waste the food. Fish was well cooked and tasty but wasn’t what I ordered or wanted. Didn’t get offered water either which happened on Saturday night. Then the fun begins … I went to pay thinking they would then charge me for what I actually ordered. I got told because I ate what was brought out I had to pay for it. She then got into an argument that I ate everything when I took out all the kidney beans and chick peas. I said I did you a favour by eating it. I said just take the 4 euros off. Anyway the owner came out and he basically said pay and I said the options are you take the 4 euros off I just walk out. (Would have been the easy option from the start) Not that I care about the 4 euro …. Was more interested in how they would deal with it …. Not very well

We found this restaurant by accident on Yelp when looking for a place to eat in Roscommon. We were not disappointed. The service was great, the food was delicious and the pricing was well matched. The quantities were also plenty. We ordered the ribs, chicken wings and chicken pasta. It was delicious. We'll be back.

This was my second visit here and it has been fantastic both times. Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Food was extremely tasty and beautifully presented. Would maybe like one or two more Gluten Free main meal options, but the lamb shank was GF and it tasted amazing. There's lots of GF starters. Glad we booked as it was extremely busy (Sunday lunch) Will return when back in Roscommon again.
