River House Cafe in Cahir

Delicious sandwiches and friendly service. I had the tuna, sweet corn and cheese panini and my husband had the Limerick baked ham and brie sandwich. Both were excellent. The woman making the sandwiches happily accommodated my food allergy. We didn't try the desserts or any of the entrees but they looked fantastic too.

We were greeted very coldly by a lady who seemed annoyed by my understanding of English and my questions about their way of doing things (ordering at the counter for the main course, self-service for dessert, coffee served before the main course). The food seems homemade and is of good quality. The environment is not at all pleasant (cafeteria furniture, toilet smell).

Take away freshly made, but too dry. Overall good.

Fun staff, delicious chicken sandwich and quiche. We really enjoyed our visit!!

I don’t quite understand how a cafe in this incredible location could mess up so badly. My 3 star rating is out of loyalty for what it used to be and because I’ve been going there for years. I could get better coffee and food in town but nowhere else had those views. Sitting upstairs for lunch with that view of the weir and castle was pretty special. Some genius however decided to move The Health House upstairs and so my daughter and I sat at the back of the cafe beside the large TV and kids toys, as that was the only place to sit. The view of the castle from the large front window downstairs was almost completely blocked by a bunch of large balloons and huge menopause boxes advertising the shop upstairs, Now it seems there are far more serious concerns for the owners regarding recent events. It’s a business that needs to pass into more competent hands please!

Quiet and light good breakfast/lunch. Staff is nice and the atmosphere is very calm and chill. I was here at around 1pm so it may vary but I recieved my food really fast.

Lovley little spot across from the castle, and recommended by staff there. Friendly casual atmosphere, resonably priced, very friendly staff. Lasagna was available for lunch and was excellent.
