16/07/2026: We had lunch at Shamrock Lounge after we visited Cahir Castle, we were immediately welcomed and chose from the well stocked, but carefully chosen lunch menu.
The service was very quick and kind. We had the roast and the fried mushrooms, both very tasty. The roast was pretty traditional and hearty, like my grandma would make it.
The interior is old-fashioned pub-like, charmingly old and it’s obviously an important part of the local community, the server knew every regular by name.
The price was very fair and we’d love to come back anytime.

01/07/2026: Formerly the town residence of the Butler family, the beautifully appointed Cahir House Hotel gives the visitor an inkling of living like the aristocracy. Between the house, the rooms, the function rooms, bar and gardens, there is plenty of space to host your function or to enjoy your short stay. Plenty of social life surrounding the hotel right in the middle of town. Adequate parking and an outdoor BBQ in the garden. As it is located next door to Cahir Castle, the River Suir and 2km walk to the Swiss Cottage (the Butler family's summer house), there's plenty for the visitor to explore and enjoy.
27/06/2026: Such a cute hotel. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean. Only complaint, the folder told us "drinking the tap water isn't recommended," but we didn't get complimentary water. It wasn't a big deal, we just walked to the grocery store. And of course, no AC, but we were provided with a fan and left the windows open. As an American, we forget how we value our AC. But all together, we enjoyed our stay, we are happy and had another great lodging while in Ireland. And the hotel is a short walk from Cahir Castle.

20/06/2026: Terrible service. We were seated outside and given menus. But after waiting more than 20 minutes, no one came to take our order. We eventually got up and left. Needless to say, we won't be returning!

The Lazy Bean Café @The Heritage

17/09/2025: If you walk up to the main square from the castle (You can do it!), you'll find MUCH cheaper (and probably better) sandwiches than close to the castle. We got the brie panini and the chicken pesto panini; both excellent. Price was also excellent. Service was quick and so friendly!
14/08/2025: Excellent coffee with lively cakes etc but the gluten free was underneath the glutenated food uncovered and I protected. Contamination was very likely. I am sorry and look forward to upgrading this review soon.

11/05/2026: Tiny portions, the atmosphere wasn't great, it had a feeling of a chippers, rather than a fancy Italian restaurant. Quite expensive. No alcohol served.
03/05/2026: I ordered the Galileo Special Pizza for takeaway. It was absolutely wonderful. All of the ingredients were so fresh. I'm not even embarrassed to admit that I ate the entire thing while sitting in my car instead of taking it home. Great place, I will definitely order again soon.

06/02/2026: I’m disappointed. Used to be a great takeaway and still is at times but of late it’s became hit and miss with more misses than hits. Today we ordered Indian dishes, it took 1.5 hrs to be delivered, Byriani came with no sauce, a naan bread was missing and they gave us only half of a poppadom with a tiny bit of mango chutney which looked used. Wouldn’t normally mind the odd error but it’s more often and the food doesn’t seem to be as good as it used to be. Such a shame. Hope it improves.

05/07/2026: They refused to give tap water after buying a coffee and a snack. First time this happened to me ever. There’s a lot of negative reviews here and I’m not surprised. The staff makes you feel uncomfortable.

Food was only very average for the price...
The manger of the cafe seemed a bit severe on the staff.
Poor enough overall
30/09/2025: Came here today, merely because no where else in Cahir is serving food with the option to sit indoors right now. Greeted politely by a woman at the deli counter who was very nice. Overall service was good, although very loud talking to each other and shouting my friend and I’s ordered out loud despite the place being mostly empty.
The food however, I paid €22 for a hot chocolate, 200ml bottle of apple juice, 7 chips in a tiny bowl you’d use for salsa dressing and a “sweet chilli chicken wrap” which tasted like it was made from packaged chicken slices and greasy cheese that wasn’t melting, also felt like it was microwaved instead of toasted because it was soggy and not crunchy.
I won’t be coming back, for the price it’s ridiculous, The girls were lovely so i feel bad but it’s clearly aimed to overcharge americans/ tourists and not a place locals can get a nice filling lunch for a good price.

06/03/2026: I can see why it’s called yummy, because it is. Myself and partners go too is always a Chinese, we have travelled a lot around the country and this one is by far or favourite 4 in 1 deal we have come across, the ratio of rice, chicken, chips and sauce is perfect. And very tasty.

Even when I went to Italy I didn't find a Pizza as good as the one they do here.
The Marbella and Quatro Formaggi are my favourite, but all the other ones are also fantastic. And the chips are also good.
Also the price for a large pizza is great, considering the fresh and good quality ingredients 🍕🍕🍕🥓🍗🥫🦑🧀🦐
