Strand Tavern

29/10/2024: Have been in search of the best seafood Chowder in the County of Wexford. The Strand Tavern in Duncannon had been highly recommended. Visited here yesterday on the hunt for what was highly recommended by friends and family usually a pretty decent recommendation. Unfortunately had not considered that the last bank holiday before Christmas would have meant a massive influx into the this very beautiful corner of South Wexford. But unfortunately the Dubs had arrived on the scene by Sunday teatime of the Bank Holuday they had consumed all the Chowder that could be found. So we were relegated to Spicy Chicken Wings as a starter and my lovely wife had a large Goats cheese Salad. To be honest and fair play to all it was delicious and the serving of chips on the side was more than adequate and well done. Everything looked really fresh, particularly the salad. My daughters pint of Guinness was clean and well poured and formed nicely down the glass as it emptied. My Yellow Yellowbelly pale ale was also served at a really nice temperature. So despite our disappointed at the no Chowder we had a lovely early evening meal two drinks and a very friendly wait staff. In fact the general feeling was one of good friendly happy banter between the staff themselves and with their customers Well-done
20/10/2024: We've been to the Strand Tavern many times and have never been disappointed. The food is scrumptious and all the staff are always very friendly and efficient. Keep it up!

Wild Rose Cafe

07/11/2024: No dogs allowed. Mmm. What is it in Ireland with dogs? We are from the Netherlands and not used to this. Please explain why it is not common in Ireland to take your dig with you.
20/10/2024: Wild Rose Cafe in Duncannon is a hidden gem! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The menu offers a great variety of delicious options, from fresh salads to hearty comfort food. The cozy atmosphere and warm service make it a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. I highly recommend trying their homemade soups and sandwiches—everything is made with care and quality ingredients. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Wild Rose Cafe is definitely worth a visit. Can't wait to go back!
