Rouge in Galway

An excellent true French dining experience. They mainly serve steak and duck which I heard from others at my table were delicious, but I had the fish which was also amazing. You have the option for French fries or gratin, I got the fries which were delicious and (in my non-expert opinion) seemed pretty traditional and authentic. For dessert I had the Paris Brest which was delicious. It is choux pastry with hazelnut cream inside it is very rich however and I would recommend sharing it between two people. Overall an amazing restaurant and would definitely go back again.

We had a mixed experience overall. The service was generally very good, especially thanks to the waiter, who was attentive, knowledgeable and happy to explain the starters and recommend how best to enjoy them. Unfortunately, the wine selection was a major disappointment. Several of the wines we wanted to order were unavailable, which felt particularly surprising for a French restaurant with such a strong focus on wine. We eventually let the waiter choose an alternative for us, and his recommendation was excellent, but the lack of availability was still disappointing. The food was pleasant but, in our opinion, lacked flavour and did not quite live up to our expectations. The desserts, however, were excellent and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. Most of the staff were lovely and helpful, although one of the waitresses came across as rather rude and condescending, which unfortunately affected the overall experience. A restaurant with great potential and some very good service, but the food and limited wine selection left us feeling slightly disappointed.

Superb French restaurant right in the heart of Galway. The gratin dauphinois accompanying the meat dishes is divine! The cooking is perfectly executed, and the art of French dining is upheld. It's a shame we had to choose between the gratin and the vegetables; a selection of both on the plate would have been a real bonus. The desserts are made by a neighboring pastry shop and are of a high standard.

Great great atmosphere. Really nice owners. Food is meh !!! Portion sizes are good but the chef lacks the skills if I was being honest.

The food is excellent. The waiters and waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere is good.

Wonderful French restaurant. Excellent food and a very good wine list at absolutely reasonable prices. For a starter, we were treated to a surprise of four different small dishes—all delicious. Lovely authentic French restaurant. Limited menu offering fish of the day, duck, striploin steak or fillet of beef. If cooked rare, it is very bloody. If well done, it can be cinderised. Medium is a good option. Steak tasty, if a little chewy. Other dishes were nice. The starters in particular were delicious, as were the desserts. Piano was playing in the background over a lot of chatter. Very attentive service from an international staff. Our lovely waitress was from Brittany. Great night overall. Popular and busy. It is important to book. Ideal for that special occasion. Merci à tous!
