Found this little gem whilst attending a wedding in Birr. So glad I did. As someone who likes Indian food, this unassuming little restaurant in Birr provides some of the best Indian food I've ever had, at sensible prices too! Don't miss it! Book if you can - we just walked in and were lucky enough to find a table. Enjoy!

I've been here a few times now and to be honest, it's just fine. I've had some good experiences and some very mediocre ones. I am not a fussy eater but yesterday I ordered "coconut lamb" and it literally tasted like they forgot to add the coconut and the other spices (cinnamon, clove) (should be very noticeable) it supposedly had I could barely taste. The dish ended up just tasting like dry lamb and gravy and for 20+ euro it's very disappointing (especially as that was for the curry alone). The peshwari nan was also fine but for 4.50 I would expect more than one piece... As a local I would love to come here regularly but not when the quality is so inconsistent. I think you guys can do a lot better for the prices you are charging.

Kashmir (Galway): As Galway's oldest Indian restaurant, it has a massive local following for its authentic flavors and comforting, "soul food" vibe.

Kellys Bar

09/05/2026: Love the vibe and the staff are so cute. The foods fabs too 🌞
25/04/2026: We walked in with our 2 little dogs trying to get a place outside unfortunately they were taken up. The owner offered us to sit inside and even asked if we wanted the music to be turned and all the staff kept offering water bowls to the doggos. Food was amazing and my partner said it was one of the nicest steak sandwich he had. Definitely recommend!

Townsend House

11/01/2026: Went for tapas on Christmas work night out. Gorgeous
07/01/2026: The place is okay. We paid €200 a night for 2 people, which is a lot, but understand, given there was a wedding and Country Arms Birr was fully booked, and it was NYE. Still, it was quite a shocking price—but then again, Ireland. It's expensive for what it is, but that's the nature of supply and demand, as they say. We stayed in the front room, and the traffic noise was really bad. Worse than that, the heating in the room was off, and we couldn’t find anyone to help us, so there was no solution, and it was freezing. We woke up with the heat on in the morning. It also has a breakfast with it, Irish fry up. It's okay.
