Shades Grill in Cavan

We were staying 2 nights in the Farnham estate but wanted to eat in the town. We loved this place so much on night one that we came back the second night. We ate different mains on both nights & both were fantastic. The sticky toffee pudding was a great end to the meal..whether you decide to share or not lol. Good menu selection. The staff were brillant, very attentive & friendly. The interior was lovely. When we are back in Cavan we will definitely be back again. All I can say is enjoy😋

Great experience, will visit again

We booked Shades for a meal after a Christening. Shane and the team were all so helpful and nothing was too much to ask for. They set up the area, personalised the menu and provided great service on the day. The food was great as always! So much choice on the set menu and the kids menu was really great. So helpful and grateful for helping us host our families on that special day. Thank you again!

Beautiful restaurant, staff lovely, didn't really like where we were seated it was in a little corner under an arch away from everyone and everything in the restaurant we felt very isolated and closed off from everything any any kind of atmosphere. Food was nice my criticism is starters portions small for the price, chicken supreme was kinda boring. 2 profiteroles for an expensive dessert. Would probably go back if asked out by friends etc but wouldn't be in a hurry.

We highly recommend this place. We stumbled upon it by chance and didn't regret it. After a short time, we had a table for five (without a reservation). The service staff was very attentive, we had a short wait, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was truly imaginative and inviting. We felt very comfortable and left more than satisfied. We wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Brilliant place to go with family and caters for disability users. We were given first class service with very friendly staff and great food. I would highly recommend it and will be back.

Our first time here, service excellent food fabulous, a few things - we had garlic mushrooms as a starter and I think €9.45 for 3 mushrooms (all in halves) was a bit expensive, too much tomato on the plate and not enough mushrooms. 2 profiteroles for dessert again a little expensive for what you got. Presentation was excellent, and steak was delicious. Probably will go back.

Fantastic restaurant, food and staff are top notch

This was our second time at Shades, the first time about 2-3 years ago, but it was so good last time that we remembered it and returned. We had a warm welcome and staff were friendly and polite. As we’d been eating out for days, we skipped starters and went to mains. My wife had the Thai monkfish and prawns and really enjoyed it – she loved it. I was not overly hungry, but had the burger, which was great. Our 3rd party member had the seafood pasta and although not a crab fan, he enjoyed the rest. My Caribbean fries had the right amount of spice and were great. I’d recommend Shades to anyone, great staff, lovely food and good prices.
